A Static Equipment Design Engineer specializes in the design, analysis, and specification of non-rotating equipment like pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and reactors, primarily for oil & gas and petrochemical industries. Key tasks include creating mechanical datasheets, performing FEA, ensuring ASME/API code compliance, and preparing technical drawings.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Analysis: Perform thermal-hydraulic calculations, mechanical design analysis, and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) on pressure vessels and exchangers.
Documentation: Generate detailed engineering drawings (GA drawings), technical specs, material requisitions, and mechanical datasheets.
Compliance: Ensure all equipment meets international codes and standards (ASME Section VIII Div 1/2, API 650, TEMA, BS PD 5500, IS STD.).
Vendor Management: Evaluate vendor bids, prepare required drawing for submission of bid,
review vendor-developed fabrication drawings, and provide technical guidance,
Technical Support: Perform root cause analysis on equipment/process failures and support procurement/inspection teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: 5–10+ years in static equipment design, typically in EPC or oil & gas projects.
Software Proficiency: PV Elite, Auto CAD, Compress, Solid Works, Ansys or similar FEA tools.
Knowledge: Expertise in pressure vessel design, material selection, and welding requirements.
