Position: Motor Design Engineer (2 W/3 W Electric Vehicles)
Experience: 3–10 Years
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop high-efficiency traction motors for 2-wheel and 3-wheel electric vehicle applications. Perform electromagnetic design and optimization of PMSM, BLDC, and induction motors to meet performance, cost, and reliability targets. Conduct motor simulations using electromagnetic analysis tools (e.g., Maxwell, Motor-CAD, JMAG, ANSYS). Define motor architecture, stator/rotor topology, winding configuration, magnet selection, and cooling concepts. Collaborate with inverter, controls, mechanical, and vehicle integration teams to achieve system-level performance objectives. Lead motor prototyping, testing, validation, and performance characterization activities. Analyze test data and implement design improvements for efficiency, NVH, thermal performance, and manufacturability. Support DFM/DFA activities and coordinate with manufacturing teams for industrialization and production ramp-up. Ensure compliance with applicable automotive standards, safety requirements,
and quality processes. Support supplier development, technical reviews, and component qualification activities. Required Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering 5–10 years of hands-on experience in electric motor design, preferably in EV traction applications. Strong understanding of electromagnetic principles, motor control fundamentals, and electric drive systems. Experience in designing PMSM and/or BLDC motors for automotive or mobility applications. Proficiency with motor design and simulation tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, Motor-CAD, JMAG, Flux, or equivalent. Knowledge of thermal management, magnetic materials, insulation systems, and motor manufacturing processes. Experience with motor testing, validation, and root-cause analysis. Familiarity with automotive development processes, DFMEA, APQP, and product lifecycle management. Solid analytical, problem-
