Responsible for designing and developing precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, molds, gauges, and other manufacturing equipment. The role involves converting customer and engineering requirements into practical, cost-effective tooling designs while ensuring manufacturability, quality, safety, and performance.
- Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop press tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, molds, and special-purpose tooling.
- Prepare detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
- Interpret customer specifications, engineering drawings, GD&T;, and technical requirements.
- Perform tool concept development, feasibility studies, and design calculations.
- Select appropriate materials, standard components, cutting elements, springs, guide systems, and other tooling components.
- Develop detailed part drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
- Design tools considering manufacturability, assembly,
maintenance, and production requirements.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, tool-room, production, quality, and procurement teams.
- Support tool manufacturing, assembly, try-out, and commissioning activities.
- Analyze tooling problems and implement design modifications and improvements.
- Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback from customers and internal teams.
- Ensure designs meet dimensional, functional, quality, and safety requirements.
- Reduce tooling cost and cycle time through design optimization and standardization.
- Maintain engineering drawings, revision records, BOMs, and other technical documentation.
- Support continuous improvement, process optimization, and current product development.
