JD for COBOL developer

Required Technical Skills
- Solid hands-on experience with COBOL, Micro Focus COBOL, CICS, JCL, and Oracle in a Red Hat Linux environment.
- Experience designing, developing, and consuming SOAP/REST web services and working with microservices-based architectures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and quickly learn new technologies.
- Proficient in developing and optimizing complex SQL queries and database operations.
- Hands-on experience with Micro Focus Net Express (IDE) and Red Hat Linux operating systems.
- Experience developing or supporting Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) applications is preferred.
- Strong understanding of JCL, batch processing, job scheduling, and production support.
- Experience working with VSAM, flat files, Oracle databases, and other relational database management systems.
- Good knowledge of mainframe utilities, including SORT, IDCAMS, IEBGENER, IEFBR14, and related tools.
- Strong understanding of COBOL copybooks,



file layouts, data structures, and data transformation processes.
- Ability to analyze business and technical requirements, review RFPs, collaborate with stakeholders, prepare technical designs, provide effort estimates, and support proposal development.
- Develop, unit test, and deliver high-quality software solutions that meet functional and technical requirements.
- Expertise in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving issues within large-scale, enterprise mainframe applications.

Additional Technical Skills for D0 to F6 Conversion
- Extensive experience implementing field length changes in legacy mainframe applications during data format conversion initiatives.
- Strong expertise in analyzing and modifying COBOL copybooks, file layouts, and record structures to accommodate field size increases or decreases.
