Role Description
This is a remote, contract, commission-based role for candidates based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, focused on driving qualified opportunities for Steps Software Solutions' Azure Databricks and data engineering services. The B2B SDR / Appointment Setter will conduct outbound prospecting via phone, email, and social channels to identify decision-makers — CTOs, VPs of Engineering, Heads of Data, and Data Engineering Managers — at companies with active Azure Databricks needs (migrations, pipeline development, cost optimization, or implementation support), and generate interest in our services.
Day-to-day responsibilities include qualifying leads against defined criteria, nurturing prospects through structured follow-up, and securing discovery calls or technical scoping calls for the delivery team. The role also involves maintaining accurate records in CRM tools, preparing concise briefing notes ahead of each call, and collaborating with the founder/technical team to refine messaging, outreach sequences, and target account lists specific to the Databricks/Azure data ecosystem.




Success in this position is measured by consistent outbound activity, quality of booked meetings, and contribution to pipeline growth in the B2B data engineering market.
Compensation
Competitive commission structure — per-meeting + deal-closed bonus, discussed during interview
Payment released within 48 hours of the meeting, pending a brief qualification review
What counts as a "Qualified Meeting" (required to be paid):
A meeting is only payable if all of the following are true:
The meeting actually took place (not just booked/scheduled — no-shows don't count)
Right person — the attendee is a genuine decision-maker or solid influencer: CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Data, Data Engineering Manager, or equivalent (not a random employee or HR contact)
Right company profile — company size roughly 50–500 employees (or as otherwise specified), and is a plausible buyer of Azure Databric
