Position Overview

The
Assistant Vice President – Business Development
role exists to lead the acquisition and expansion of reinsurance business internationally. This position drives revenue growth through originating, structuring, and placing Life & Health reinsurance treaties, with a focus on new business and marginal brokerage development. Reporting line details are to be specified.

Key Responsibilities
- Identify, originate, and close new reinsurance opportunities across global markets.
- Drive growth in Life & Health reinsurance portfolios to meet revenue targets.
- Lead end-to-end execution of treaty placements, including structuring solutions such as Quota Share, Surplus, and Excess of Loss.
- Develop and maintain relationships with global reinsurers, insurers,



and brokers to expand international market presence.
- Convert low-penetration accounts into business, focusing on small and mid-sized insurers.
- Build strong, trusted advisor relationships with key stakeholders.
- Monitor market trends and pricing cycles to inform strategy and maintain accurate forecasts and pipelines.
- Collaborate internally with underwriting, actuarial, and legal teams to ensure compliance and alignment.

Required Experience & Qualifications
- Experience: 12–18 years in insurance/reinsurance with a proven track record in Life & Health reinsurance.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of treaty structures including Quota Share, Surplus, Excess of Loss; understanding of actuarial inputs.
- Core Competencies: Commercial acumen and robust negotiation skills.
- Preferred Background: Experience with leading industry firms such as Aon, Marsh, WTW, Guy Carpenter, Swiss Re, or Munich Re.
