In RISM, we expect the Scientific Assistant to support hands-on learning by preparing experiment setups, maintaining robotics and science equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring strict safety protocols.
As a scientific Assistant, you will encourage students curiosity in the Lab and assist them in honing their skills for investigation.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Set up apparatus, kits, and materials (Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Sciences and CS&AI;) ahead of scheduled practical classes.
Assist the academic staff, during demonstrations and guide students in troubleshooting experiments or STEM projects.
Clean, sterilize, and calibrate equipment, reporting any hardware/software failures or repair needs immediately.
Enforce stringent lab safety rules, manage hazardous material disposal, and ensure first aid/fire safety kits are stocked.
Document safety protocol for the specific Lab and train the Academic staff and students periodically on the protocol (2 times a year)
Track consumable usage, manage issue/return logs, and maintain stock registers for ordering recent supplies




Assist the Teaching staff to ensure that the assessment and grading process for the students is managed effectively
Maintain stock registers, inventory records, and issue/return logs of lab materials.
Coordinate with vendors for procurement of lab equipment, chemicals, and consumables.
Maintain proper labelling and storage of chemicals and specimens. • Assist in annual stock verification and lab audits. •
Prepare MIS reports related to lab usage and inventory. •
Maintain confidentiality and discipline within the laboratory.
Display responsibility, and alertness during lab activities.
Support other laboratory or academic requirements as assigned by RISM
Receive and process samples to identify suitability
Prepare and maintain accurate laboratory records
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with some experience of having worked in a Lab will be a distinct advantage.
