Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Manage a team of tax associates and seniors; oversee the preparation and delivery of high volume returns in peak season and during extensions.
- Quality & Review: Perform high-level technical reviews of complex returns (including multi-state and international) to ensure accuracy prior to e-filing.
- Client Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for HNW clients, leading review calls and tax strategy walkthroughs.
- Workflow Management: Use MIS reporting to monitor team utilization, productivity, and collections; allocate engagements based on team bandwidth and expertise.
- Strategic Growth: Drive process improvements to reduce turnaround time, support business development through upselling, and manage engagement pricing strategies.
- Mentorship: Conduct regular performance reviews, technical training sessions, and career coaching to support team succession planning.
Technical Expertise Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience in:
- Equity & Investments:
Capital gains (Futures/Options), RSUs, ESPP, and ISO/NSO transactions.
- International Tax: FBAR/FATCA, Form 5471, GILTI, Form 8865, and Streamlined Domestic Offshore Procedures.
- Real Estate: Rental income (Passive vs. Active/REPS), 1031 exchanges, Cost Segn and Section 121 exclusions.
- Specific Reporting: Form 8606 (Backdoor Roth), Schedule C (QBI), and AMT/Kiddie Tax calculations.
- Notice Resolution: Handling Federal/State tax notices and managing amended filings.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in U. S. individual taxation within public accounting or a tax outsourcing workplace.
- Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is mandatory.
- Proven experience managing teams of 10+ people in a high-volume filing environment.
- Superior communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to HNW clients.
