About the University and the Role

Founded more than five centuries ago, the University of Aberdeen is a leading research institution that drives innovation and prepares students for future careers. It is ranked 2nd in Scotland and 12th in the UK in the 2025 Guardian University Guide, and is listed among the top 250 universities worldwide in the 2025 QS and Times Higher Education rankings.

The University of Aberdeen will open its Mumbai campus in Powai in September 2026. At launch, it will offer six programmes: four-year undergraduate degrees in Computing, Data Science, Economics, and Business Management, along with one-year master's degrees in Artificial Intelligence and Business Administration.

The Student Wellbeing Counsellor is responsible for supporting the emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing of students. This role involves providing counselling services, developing wellbeing programs, and collaborating with faculty and parents to create a safe and supportive learning workplace.

Key Responsibilities

1. Student Counselling & Support




Provide individual and group counselling sessions to students facing emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges Assess student needs and develop personalized intervention plans Support students dealing with stress, anxiety, academic pressure, social issues, and other concerns Maintain confidential records of counselling sessions in line with professional standards 2. Preventive Wellbeing Programs
Design and conduct workshops on topics such as emotional resilience, stress management, mindfulness, and life skills Implement preventative mental health initiatives across the student community Promote awareness around mental health and wellbeing 3. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with teachers, school leadership, and parents to support student wellbeing Provide guidance to faculty on identifying and addressing student concerns Refer students to external specialists (psychologists, psychiatrists)
