Job Description – Head, HSE & Construction Safety
Entity: The largest Data Center of the largest conglomerate.
Location: Hyderabad/Pune + Pan India site mobility
Function: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) + Construction Safety
Reports To: CEO
1. Role Purpose
The Head – HSE & Construction Safety is responsible for establishing, governing, and continuously improving a worldclass safety, health, and environment framework across all phases of the data center lifecyclesite acquisition, design, construction, commissioning, and operatios. The role ensures zeroharm culture, regulatory compliance, contractor safety governance, and alignment with global hyperscale DC safety standards (NFPA, BIS, NBC, IFC, ISO, OSHA).
2. Key Responsibilities
A. HSE Governance & Strategy
Develop and implement a comprehensive HSE strategy aligned with global data center safety norms.
Establish the HSE Management System, SOPs, manuals, and emergency response frameworks
Drive a safety-first culture across design, engineering, construction, commissioning, and O&M; teams.




Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (Factories Act, IS standards, environmental norms, fire & life safety codes).
B. Construction Safety Leadership
Lead and govern contractor safety during civil, structural, power, cooling, automation / controls, security and network infrastructure works.
Review DC designs / layouts to incorporate elements / features ensuring protected construction and operation.
Approve Construction HSE Plans for all EPC partners.
Drive safety and sustainability culture in the organization, periodic internal site safety audits, facilitate customer safety audits, Conduct and authorize shutdowns where required.
C. Fire, Life, and Critical Systems Safety
Oversee design reviews for Fire Detection & Life Safety (FDLS) systems and ensure compliance with global standards (as referenced in the Hyper Vault control system safety baseline).
