PLC / Industrial Automation EngineerJob Summary
We are looking for an experienced PLC / Industrial Automation Engineer responsible for the design, programming, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of PLC-based industrial automation systems. The role involves PLC, HMI/SCADA, VFD, servo and motion systems, industrial communication networks, remote I/O, and integration of third-party equipment.
Key Responsibilities PLC Programming
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs for machine and process automation.
- Work with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, ABB, or similar.
- Develop sequences, interlocks, permissives, alarms, PID loops, and cascade control strategies.
- Develop reusable PLC function blocks, standard routines, and software libraries.
- Perform online PLC debugging, fault diagnosis, and program optimization.
HMI / SCADA
- Develop and configure HMI/SCADA applications for:
- Process monitoring and control
- Equipment operation
- Alarm management
- Trends and historical data
- User management and access control
- System diagnostics
- Integrate PLCs with HMI/SCADA systems.
- Troubleshoot PLC-HMI/SCADA communication and visualization issues.
VFD & Motion Control
- Configure, program, and commission VFDs, servo drives, and motion-control systems.
- Configure speed, torque, and position control applications.
- Work with encoders and resolvers for feedback systems.
- Troubleshoot drive, motor, feedback, and motion-related faults.
Industrial Communication
- Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication networks and protocols, including:
- EtherNet/IP
- PROFINET / PROFIBUS
- Modbus TCP/RTU
- DeviceNet
- ControlNet
- OPC UA/DA
- RS485 / RS232
- Knowledge of MQTT and Industrial IoT will be an added advantage.
Automation System Design
- Review and interpret P&IDs;, control narratives, I/O lists, instrument indexes, and electrical drawings.
- Develop PLC and control-system architectures.
- Perform I/O allocation and controller assignment.
- Design industrial network architecture and communication interfaces.
- Select PLCs, remote I/O, communication modules, drives, and other automation hardware.
- Prepare BOMs, hardware specifications, and technical documentation.
Testing & Commissioning
- Plan and execute:
- Software FAT
- Hardware FAT
- Integrated FAT
- SAT
- Site commissioning
- Perform I/O testing, loop checking, and functional testing.
- Troubleshoot PLC, HMI/SCADA, network, instrumentation, and control-system issues.
- Support plant startup, commissioning, and performance testing.
- Provide technical support during site activities and customer acceptance.
Third-Party Equipment Integration
- Integrate PLC/SCADA systems with:
- Energy meters
- Flow meters
- Pressure and level transmitters
- VFDs
- Weighing systems
- Analyzers
- Package PLCs
- Intelligent instruments
- Develop and troubleshoot Modbus, OPC, Ethernet, and serial communication interfaces.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming and industrial automation.
- Hands-on experience with Siemens and/or Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs preferred.
- Good understanding of electrical control panels, instrumentation, and motor control.
- Knowledge of industrial communication networks and protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs;, electrical drawings, control narratives, I/O lists, and instrument documentation.
- Hands-on experience in PLC/HMI programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and startup.
- Knowledge of HMI/SCADA development and PLC-SCADA integration.
- Valuable understanding of PID and process control.
- Experience with VFDs, servo drives, and motion-control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently at customer/project sites when required.
Preferred Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in PLC programming and industrial automation.
- Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley or Siemens platforms.
- Hands-on experience with FAT, SAT, commissioning, and plant startup.
- Experience in process or manufacturing industries such as:
- Pharma
- Chemical
- Water & Wastewater
- Oil & Gas
- Manufacturing
- Power
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a hands-on automation professional who can take ownership of projects from system design and PLC programming through FAT, site commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting. Strong communication skills, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work effectively with customers, electrical teams, instrumentation engineers, and other project stakeholders are essential.
Pay: ₹13,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
