A Security Supervisor in the hotel industry is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of guests, employees, hotel property, and operations. The role combines team supervision, incident management, access control, emergency preparedness, and coordination with hotel departments and authorities.
Key Rules & Responsibilities
- Supervise Security Staff
- Assign duties and shifts to security guards.
- Ensure proper grooming, uniform, punctuality, and discipline.
- Conduct regular briefings and handovers.
- Monitor guards at all important security points.
- Guest Safety & Security
- Protect guests, visitors, and employees from security risks.
- Monitor suspicious activities and persons.
- Handle guest complaints related to safety or security professionally.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest information.
- Access Control
- Monitor entry and exit of employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors.
- Check staff ID cards and visitor passes.
- Control access to restricted areas.
- Maintain records of visitors and contractors where required.
- CCTV & Surveillance
- Monitor CCTV cameras regularly.
- Ensure cameras and recording systems are functioning.
- Report suspicious activity immediately.
- Preserve CCTV footage related to incidents according to hotel policy and applicable law.
- Incident Management
- Respond quickly to theft, fights, accidents, unauthorized entry, missing property, or other incidents.
- Prepare accurate incident reports.
- Inform the Security Manager/Hotel Management promptly.
- Preserve evidence and avoid unnecessary disturbance of an incident scene.
- Fire & Emergency Safety
- Know the hotel's fire exits, emergency equipment, assembly points, and evacuation procedures.
- Conduct or assist with emergency drills.
- Respond to fire alarms and other emergencies.
- Coordinate with the Fire Department, police, ambulance services, and other authorities when required.
- Patrolling
- Conduct regular patrols of guest floors, back-of-house areas, parking areas, entrances, plant rooms, and other critical locations.
- Check for unlocked doors, safety hazards, suspicious objects, and unauthorized persons.
- Record patrol observations.
- Key & Access Card Control
- Control master keys and other restricted keys/access cards according to hotel procedures.
- Maintain proper key issue/return records.
- Immediately report lost or unauthorized keys/cards.
- Lost & Found
- Ensure lost-and-found items are properly recorded, secured, and handed over according to hotel policy.
- Maintain chain-of-custody records where appropriate.
- Employee Security
- Monitor staff entrances and sensitive areas.
- Support investigations of workplace incidents.
- Ensure security procedures are followed without harassing or unnecessarily inconveniencing employees.
- Vendor & Contractor Control
- Verify contractors and service personnel.
- Ensure work permits and access permissions are followed where applicable.
- Monitor contractors working in restricted or sensitive areas.
- Daily Documentation
- Maintain the security logbook.
- Record incidents, patrols, visitor movements, key issues, alarms, and unusual occurrences.
- Prepare shift reports and incident reports accurately.
Important Qualified Rules
- Never misuse authority or threaten guests/employees.
- Do not physically search someone unless authorized under hotel policy and applicable law.
- Do not disclose confidential guest information.
- Do not make accusations without evidence.
- Use minimum necessary force only where legally permitted and genuinely required for safety.
- Never leave a critical security post unattended without proper replacement.
- Report serious incidents immediately rather than hiding or delaying them.
- Maintain professional communication with Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, F&B;, HR, and Management.
- Follow the hotel's SOPs and applicable local laws/regulations.
Daily Shift Checklist
Before shift
- Check previous shift handover.
- Inspect security equipment.
- Check CCTV status.
- Verify guard deployment.
- Review VIPs, events, groups, and special security requirements.
- Check for pending incidents.
During shift
- Conduct regular patrols.
- Monitor CCTV and access points.
- Check guard attendance and positions.
- Respond to incidents and alarms.
- Maintain the security logbook.
- Coordinate with relevant departments.
End of shift
- Complete all reports.
- Update the incoming supervisor.
- Handover pending incidents and important information.
- Ensure keys, radios, equipment, and records are properly handed over.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹250,000.00 per month
