Position: Automobile Engineer

Fleet Size: 50+ Heavy Multi-Axle Vehicles (Tata & Ashok Leyland 16-Wheelers)

Reporting To: Fleet Operations Manager

Job Purpose

To manage technical maintenance, breakdown repairs, and workshop operations for a fleet of 50+ heavy multi-axle trucks. The core objective is to maximize vehicle uptime, optimize fuel/tyre efficiency, and ensure safety and statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

- Fleet Maintenance: Plan and execute Preventative Maintenance Schedules (PMS) for BS4/BS6 Tata and Ashok Leyland 16-wheelers. Diagnose engine, transmission, pneumatic brake, and BS6 SCR/DEF issues.
- Breakdown Management: Rapidly resolve on-road breakdowns to ensure minimum Turnaround Time (TAT) and high fleet availability (Target: ≥95%).
- Tyre & Fuel Management: Implement strict 16-wheel tyre inspection, rotation, and alignment schedules. Monitor fuel/DEF consumption and prevent fuel pilferage.
- Workshop & Inventory: Supervise workshop staff (mechanics, electricians). Maintain optimal inventory levels of OEM spare parts (Tata Genuine Parts / Leyparts)



and lubricants.
- Compliance & Records: Ensure all vehicles maintain valid Fitness Certificates (FC), permits, PUC, and insurance. Maintain digital job cards and maintenance logs for every vehicle.

Key Requirements

- Education: Degree / Diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 3–6+ years in hands-on workshop management and maintenance of Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCVs).
- Technical Skills: Sound knowledge of Tata/Ashok Leyland heavy chassis, tandem axles, BS6 exhaust systems (ATS/SCR), and diagnostic scanner tools.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Mosali, Surat, Gujarat: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education:

- Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

- Automotive engineering: 3 years (Preferred)

Shift availability:

- Day Shift (Required)
