Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for a QA Manager to own the QA function across Arcitech’s product portfolio. This is the senior-most QA seat in the organization. You will set QA strategy across products, manage a team of 8–12 QA engineers (including the QA Lead who owns hands-on senior QA beneath you), run QA across 7–8 concurrent projects, and be the QA counterpart to product and engineering leadership. Reporting directly to the CEO, you are accountable for the release-readiness of everything Arcitech ships.
This is a management role, not primarily a hands-on IC role. You are the strategist, the reviewer, and the leader of the function. Hands-on senior QA — designing frameworks, running performance tests, writing critical automation — sits with the QA Lead beneath you; your job is to set direction, hold the bar, grow the team, and represent QA at the leadership table. That said, on the hardest technical problems and the highest-risk releases, you will still be hands-on — particularly on new-product launches and cross-product testing initiatives. Prior experience running QA at a SaaS / IT product company is non-negotiable. Prior experience
genuinely managing a QA team of 8+ is non-negotiable. This is a role for someone who has already done this work before, not someone stepping up into it for the first time.
You will report directly to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities
QA Strategy & Direction
- Own the QA vision and strategy across the SaaS portfolio.
- Define what gets tested manually, what gets automated,
and what needs performance testing — per product, per release.
- Own release-readiness decisions in partnership with product and engineering leadership.
- Set priorities across 7–8 concurrent projects; make trade-offs on coverage vs speed explicit.
Team Management
- Manage a team of 8–12 QA engineers, including the QA Lead as your direct report.
- Set clear expectations, run 1:1s and reviews, and own performance conversations end-to-end.
- Grow the team’s technical depth in manual, Python + Selenium automation, and performance testing.
- Own hiring for the QA team — who joins, at what level, and how they ramp up.
- Develop the QA Lead specifically as a senior report with their own career growth needs.
Quality Bar & Review
- Define and hold the QA quality bar across the whole function.
- Review the QA Lead’s work and the wider team’s work on strategic / high-stakes releases; catch issues before ship.
- Own QA process, documentation, and best practices across the SaaS portfolio.
- Set the standard through your own review — not by out-executing the Lead.
Cross-Team Leadership & Business Communication
- Partner with engineering and product leadership on release scope, quality trade-offs, and CI/CD integration.
- Represent QA to the CEO and leadership clearly — what’s shipping, what’s at risk, what needs decisions.
- Communicate quality risks in business terms, not QA jargon — impact, likelihood, mitigation, cost.
- Coordinate with DevOps on CI/CD integration of automated tests across products.
Hands-On QA (Selective)
- Personally own the hardest technical problems on high-risk releases when it matters.
- Design or review critical automation frameworks and performance test strategies for new-product launches.
- Delegate day-to-day execution to the Lead and the team — stay in strategy and review mode by default.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience: 6+ years in QA,
with at least 3 years in a QA management role
- Team management (must-have, non-negotiable): proven experience managing a QA team of
8+, including at least 2+ years directly leading a team — real people-management with 1:1s,
reviews, hiring, and performance calls; not just informal mentoring
- SaaS / IT product background (must-have, non-negotiable): prior QA leadership at a
technology / SaaS / IT product company
- Manual QA depth (must-have): 6+ years of hands-on manual QA experience — deep, thorough
process across test planning, execution, defect management, no shortcuts
- Automation (must-have): 3+ years minimum, hands-on Python + Selenium (not Java). Real
frameworks you have built and led teams to build.
- Performance testing (must-have): hands-on with performance / load testing tools (JMeter,
Locust, K6, or similar); can design, run, analyze
- QA strategy (must-have): genuine experience setting QA direction across multiple products or
product lines
- Multi-project (must-have): proven ability to run QA across 7–8 concurrent projects without
dropping quality
- CI/CD integration: hands-on with CI/CD integration of QA (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI);
driven CI adoption at team level
- Communication: clear, senior communicator; can represent QA to the CEO and cross-functional
leadership
Nice to Have
- API testing depth (Postman, REST Assured with Python).
- SQL / database validation experience.
- Experience testing AI-driven products or non-deterministic outputs.
- Exposure to security-testing basics.
- Prior experience defining or scaling a QA function from small to mid-size.
- Experience with observability / monitoring integration for post-release quality signal.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has genuinely managed a QA team of 8+, and can point to what specifically improved under their
leadership.
- Has worked inside a technology / SaaS / IT product company for a meaningful part of their career.
- Is strong across all three testing disciplines — manual, automation, and performance — not just
one.
- Can balance strategy, review, team management, and selective hands-on work.
- Communicates well with the CEO and leadership; represents QA as a business function, not a
purely technical one.
- Runs a QA function with process and craft, not chaos and heroics.
