Our services include School Counseling, Special Education Support, Safeguarding & Compliance Training, Mental Health Workshops, and Wellbeing Programs for students, teachers, parents, and school communities.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head of Counseling Department to lead our Counseling and Special Education vertical across partner schools in India.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced mental health professional with strong expertise in school-based counseling, child and adolescent mental health, SEL, special education, safeguarding, and team leadership.

This role will involve supervising a distributed team of School Counselors and Special Educators, strengthening school partnerships, ensuring clinical and program quality, and driving the growth of HBX’s counseling and wellbeing programs.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Supervision

- Lead, mentor, and supervise School Counselors and Special Educators deployed across partner schools.
- Monitor team performance and provide structured feedback and professional guidance.
- Identify training and development needs and support continuous professional growth.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and training of new team members.

Program Quality & Delivery

- Ensure consistent and high-quality delivery of counseling, SEL, and special education services.




- Establish and maintain documentation, reporting, and data standards.
- Review monthly field reports and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare and present departmental updates to senior management.

Clinical Oversight & Safeguarding

- Act as the escalation point for complex, high-risk, or sensitive student cases.
- Guide appropriate referral pathways and crisis-response processes.
- Ensure effective implementation of child safeguarding and POCSO protocols.
- Promote confidentiality, informed consent, ethical practice, and a child-first approach.

School Partnerships & Stakeholder Management

- Build strong professional relationships with Principals, School Management, Coordinators, teachers, and parents.
- Represent Health Basix during school reviews, orientations, workshops, and stakeholder meetings.
- Address school concerns promptly while balancing stakeholder expectations with professional and clinical best practices.
- Support successful implementation and continuity of HBX programs across partner schools.

Content, Training & Program Development

- Develop and refine SEL curriculum, workshop content, worksheets, and training modules.
- Design and deliver training programs on topics such as:
- Mental Health First Response
- Digital Wellbeing
- Child Safeguarding
- Emotional Wellbeing
- Teacher Wellbeing
- Adolescent Mental Health
- Contribute to presentations, proposals, and recent program development for prospective school partners.





Department Operations & HR Coordination

- Manage scheduling, leave coordination, and staffing requirements for the counseling team.
- Provide inputs for performance appraisals, increments, and HR-related communications.
- Coordinate staff transitions, replacements, and continuity of counseling services.
- Work closely with HR and Operations teams to ensure smooth departmental functioning.

Qualifications & Experience

- Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related field.
- 6+ years of relevant experience in counseling, school mental health, child/adolescent mental health, or related areas.
- Experience in leading, mentoring, or supervising counseling teams.
- Strong knowledge of school-based counseling and SEL frameworks.
- Working knowledge of Special Education practices and inclusive education.
- Familiarity with POCSO and child safeguarding requirements in Indian school settings.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently while effectively managing a distributed team across multiple locations.

Preferred

- M.Phil. / M.Psy. or additional relevant certifications in child and adolescent mental health.
- Experience working directly with schools or educational institutions.
- Experience developing mental health, SEL, safeguarding, or wellbeing programs.
- Experience conducting workshops and professional training for teachers, parents, and students.

Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
