Role: Automation Engineer – Robotics & Smart Manufacturing

About Us:
ShipCube is building robotic fulfillment infrastructure for D2C warehouses — starting with teleoperated bimanual robotic arms for carton forming, picking, and packing — while also developing the capability to manufacture its own robotic arms and future humanoid platforms. We need an Automation Engineer to connect robots, machines, sensors, and safety systems into reliable, production-grade operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and deploy automation for robotic fulfillment workcells: conveyors, carton formers, scanners, cameras, scales, sensors, safety devices, printers, PLC-controlled equipment.
- Build interlocks, exception-handling, and recovery workflows; integrate workcells with WMS.
- Build monitoring dashboards for uptime, faults, cycle time, and throughput; support remote diagnostics across sites.
- Design automation for robotic-arm manufacturing: test/calibration stations, end-of-line inspection, traceability systems.
- Program and commission PLCs, HMIs, and controls architectures; configure industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, Modbus, CAN, OPC UA, MQTT).
- Lead installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and preventive maintenance.

Requirements:





- Bachelor's/Master's in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation, Instrumentation, or Controls Engineering.
- Hands-on PLC programming and industrial controls experience.
- Familiarity with sensors, actuators, servos, safety systems, electrical panels.
- Experience integrating multi-equipment production systems; strong cross-domain troubleshooting.
- Comfortable on a factory/warehouse floor; strong technical documentation skills.

Preferred:

- Robotic workcell integration (6-axis, collaborative, or bimanual robots), ROS/ROS 2, machine vision/RGB-D, industrial Ethernet/EtherCAT/CAN, warehouse automation (conveyors, sortation, AS/RS), MES, functional safety standards, electrical panel design, Python/C++/structured text/ladder logic..
