Kaizen Payments
India
Job Description:
Vacancy : Head of Product, Kaizen Payment
Location: India (Bangalore / Pune / Hyderabad preferred) — hybrid or remote flexible Reports to: CEO Team: Product leadership across Kaizen Payments and Kojo Credit; product managers and India engineering leads as direct or dotted-line reports Employment type: Full time, senior leadership
About the Role
We are hiring a Head of Product, India, to serve as the senior product and business leader for our India-based development organization. Today, product direction and business context flow through the CEO directly. This role exists to change that: you will become the decision-making authority on the ground — the person who understands our products, customers, and business priorities deeply enough to answer questions, resolve tradeoffs, and unblock the team without escalation.
You will own the product direction for both of our product lines — Kaizen Payments and Kojo Credit — and act as the primary bridge between our US business team and our India engineering team. This is not a coordination or program-management role. It is a leadership role for someone who thinks like an owner.
What You'll Do
- Act as the CEO's product proxy in India. Make day-to-day product and prioritization decisions on behalf of leadership; know when to decide and when to escalate.
- Own the roadmap across Kaizen Payments and Kojo Credit, including resource allocation and tradeoff decisions between the two product lines.
- Translate business context into engineering direction. Ensure the India team understands not just what to build, but why — customer needs, commercial priorities, and competitive context.
- Represent the India team to the US business side. Communicate progress, risks,
and constraints credibly in both directions.
- Build the product function in India. Hire, develop, and manage product managers for each product line as the organization scales.
- Exploit the connection between payments and credit. Identify where transaction data, user funnels, and shared infrastructure across the two products create leverage.
- Maintain meaningful US overlap. Hold regular working hours overlapping with US time zones (approximately 6:30–9:30 PM IST) for real-time collaboration with the US team and participation in customer conversations.
First 6 Months
This role requires deep product knowledge, and we expect a genuine ramp. In your first 3–6 months you will shadow the CEO, join US customer calls, and work directly inside both product lines before assuming full decision authority. We are hiring for the ability to absorb our products fast and exercise sound judgment — not for day-one omniscience.
What We're Looking For
Required
- 10+ years in product management or product leadership, including significant time at a product-led company (not exclusively IT services delivery)
- Fintech experience required; direct exposure to lending, credit, or underwriting products strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to own ambiguous tradeoffs and make decisions with incomplete information
- Experience working directly with US-based stakeholders, customers,
or leadership; excellent written and spoken English
- Experience managing or mentoring product managers
- Comfort with sustained US-overlap working hours
Strongly Preferred
- Experience at Indian product-led fintechs (e.g., payments, lending, neobanking) or US-product global capability centers
- Familiarity with the regulatory and compliance dimensions of credit products
- Prior experience as the senior-most product voice in a location or business unit
- Technical fluency sufficient to engage engineers on architecture and estimate tradeoffs
What Success Looks Like
- Within 6 months, the India engineering team routes product questions to you — not the CEO — and trusts the answers
- Cross-product prioritization decisions are made in India without escalation, and the US team considers your representation of status and risk reliable
- Each product line has clear product ownership beneath you, with a roadmap tied to business outcomes
Compensatio
Competitive senior-leadership compensation benchmarked to top product-led fintech companies in India. [HR to insert band — recommend benchmarking against Head of Product / Director of Product roles at product-led fintechs, not services-industry equivalents.]
