LAB CHEMIST

Department: Laboratory – Food Grade (Salt & Marine Chemical Matrix)
Location: Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu

Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified Lab Chemist to join our Food Grade Laboratory team in Thoothukudi. The selected candidate will be responsible for chemical analysis and quality control of raw salt, refined salt, brine, bittern, and bromine.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct raw salt testing and analysis, including purity, moisture, and chemical evaluation.
- Perform quality checks through refined salt testing processes.
- Carry out brine analysis and monitor critical laboratory parameters.
- Perform bromine and bittern testing while following appropriate chemical safety procedures.
- Conduct routine laboratory quality control activities in accordance with Valuable Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Maintain accurate laboratory test records, raw data sheets, and analytical reports.
- Ensure proper handling and calibration of laboratory testing instruments.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures and hazardous chemical handling guidelines.
- Support the laboratory team in maintaining accurate and consistent analytical testing practices.

Qualifications & Experience

- Qualification: B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry.
- Experience: 1–3 years of relevant laboratory/chemical testing experience.
- Freshers are not eligible for this position.
- Candidates should have practical exposure to laboratory testing and chemical analysis.
- Candidates with experience in salt, food-grade, chemical, or related laboratory testing will be preferred.




- Exposure to an NABL-accredited laboratory environment will be an added advantage.

Important: This position is specifically for candidates with 1–3 years of relevant experience. Candidates with more than 3 years of experience will not be considered for this position.Preferred Technical Skills – Added Advantage

Knowledge or hands-on experience in the following will be an advantage:

- Spectrophotometer
- Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS)
- Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS)
- Indian Standard (IS) testing methods
- Chemical testing procedures and analytical methods
- Standardization of laboratory reagents
- Laboratory quality control procedures
- NABL laboratory procedures
- ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
- Laboratory documentation and record maintenance

Salary

Depending on qualification, relevant experience, and technical suitability.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who:

- Have 1–3 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemistry.
- Have practical knowledge of chemical testing and laboratory procedures.
- Are willing to work in Thoothukudi.
- Can join at the earliest or within a short notice period.

Candidates with 5+ years of experience and freshers are not eligible for this position.
