Job Description – Dean Academics

Position: Dean – Academics

Reporting To: Director/ Management

Position Overview

Neelkanth Group of Institutions is seeking an experienced, agile, and academically accomplished professional for the position of Dean – Academics. The Dean – Academics will provide strategic academic leadership to the institution and ensure excellence in teaching, learning, curriculum development, faculty performance, student development, and academic quality.

The incumbent will work closely with the Heads of Departments, faculty members, and administrative teams to strengthen academic standards and contribute to the overall growth and reputation of the institution.

Key Responsibilities1. Academic Leadership

- Provide strategic leadership and direction for all academic activities of the college.
- Develop and implement academic policies, systems, and procedures in alignment with institutional objectives and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Monitor the effective implementation of academic plans, calendars, timetables, and teaching-learning processes.
- Promote a culture of academic excellence, innovation, research, and continuous improvement.

2. Curriculum & Teaching-Learning

- Oversee curriculum planning, review, implementation, and periodic revision.
- Encourage cutting-edge and technology-enabled teaching methodologies.
- Monitor course delivery, lesson planning, academic progress, and learning outcomes.
- Promote outcome-based education, interdisciplinary learning, experiential learning, and industry-oriented education wherever applicable.
- Ensure appropriate academic support and mentoring mechanisms for students.

3. Faculty Management & Development

- Coordinate with Heads of Departments regarding faculty workload, performance, academic planning, and departmental requirements.
- Establish and monitor faculty performance and academic development systems.
- Identify training and development needs and organize faculty development programmes, workshops, seminars, and orientation programmes.
- Encourage faculty members to participate in research, publications, conferences, consultancy, and professional development activities.
- Support effective recruitment and induction of qualified faculty members.

4. Academic Quality Assurance





- Establish mechanisms for monitoring and improving academic quality.
- Review academic performance indicators and take corrective and improvement measures where required.
- Coordinate internal academic audits and periodic reviews.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of academic records.
- Support institutional quality initiatives and continuous improvement processes.

5. Accreditation & Regulatory Compliance

- Coordinate academic documentation and institutional requirements related to relevant regulatory and accreditation bodies.
- Contribute to preparation for inspections, accreditation, ranking, and academic audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable academic regulations, norms, and institutional policies.
- Work with the IQAC and relevant committees on quality enhancement initiatives.

6. Student Development & Academic Performance

- Monitor student academic performance, progression, retention, and overall learning outcomes.
- Promote academic counselling, mentoring, remedial support, and advanced-learning opportunities.
- Encourage co-curricular, extracurricular, skill-development, internship, and industry-interaction initiatives.
- Address academic concerns raised by students and ensure timely resolution.

7. Research & Innovation

- Encourage a strong research and innovation culture among faculty and students.
- Promote research projects, publications, conferences, collaborations, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Facilitate collaboration with universities, research institutions, professional organizations, and industry.

8. Academic Administration

- Chair or participate in academic committees as assigned by the Principal/Management.
- Coordinate with Heads of Departments for effective academic planning and execution.
- Review departmental academic reports and ensure timely submission of required documentation.
- Participate in institutional planning, budgeting, and resource allocation related to academic activities.




- Maintain effective communication between academic departments and institutional leadership.

- Improvement in teaching-learning quality and student learning outcomes.
- Faculty performance, development, and engagement.
- Curriculum implementation and academic compliance.
- Student progression, retention, and academic achievement.
- Research publications, projects, collaborations, and innovation initiatives.
- Successful completion of academic audits, accreditation, and quality-assurance processes.
- Implementation of academic reforms and institutional improvement initiatives.

Eligibility & Qualifications

- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university.
- Ph.D. in the relevant/allied discipline is highly desirable and may be required depending on institutional and regulatory norms.
- Significant experience in higher education, preferably with experience in academic administration and leadership.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development, teaching-learning processes, quality assurance, and higher-education regulations.
- Experience in accreditation, academic audits, IQAC activities, or institutional quality initiatives will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated academic leadership, research, publications, or institutional development experience is preferred.

Experience

Preferred: 10+ years of relevant experience in higher education, including substantial experience in academic leadership/administration.

Note: The qualification and experience requirements may be modified in accordance with the applicable norms of the affiliating university, PCI, statutory/regulatory authorities, and institutional requirements.

Pay: ₹55,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
