Data Annotator - SRE

What You'll Do

● Validate root cause chains for real production alerts. Confirm what's right, flag what's wrong, fix what matters.

● Root cause alerts from scratch to produce ground truth labels.

● Give structured feedback on annotation tasks across incident response, debugging, and on-call workflows.

● Work with Research Scientists and engineers to shape annotation guidelines and call out ambiguity in edge cases.

● Notice patterns across annotated incidents that point to gaps in our data, our agents, or the tasks themselves.

What We're Looking For

● 2+ years of production experience with 2+ years on-call as an SRE, DevOps, or platform engineer. You've been paged at 3am, owned services that broke in weird ways, and debugged your way out.

● Strong root cause instincts. You can read a stack trace, a metric, and a deploy history and tell a coherent story about what went wrong.

● Comfort across the modern production stack: cloud (AWS/GCP), Kubernetes, distributed systems, observability tools (Datadog, Grafana, Splunk).

● Explicit writing. Annotations get read by both humans and models — precision matters.

● Patience and rigor.



A lot of this work is reviewing similar problems over and over and catching the subtle differences. Nice to Have

● Experience at a company running at real scale.

● Prior data labeling, evals, or training data work.

● Familiarity with how observability tools work under the hood.

● Post-mortem writing or incident command experience. _______ Task Description Causal Chain Correction Input:

● Problem: alert or description of an issue in a production system

● Causal chain + evidence: chain of events that caused the problem with links to summaries and raw data that backs up each link in the chain (e.g. Alert, caused by X [1, 2], caused by Y [3]. 1: error log lines from the foo service, …)

● Query tools for discovering additional data Output:

● An updated causal chain which meets the below criteria Causal chain validity:

● Each link in the chain must reasonably cause the previous link

● Each link in the chain must be backed by sufficient evidence to support the link

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
