About the Internship
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Mechatronics Design Intern to join our Engineering and R&D; team. This internship will provide hands-on exposure to the design, development, prototyping, and integration of electro-mechanical systems, including robotics and automation solutions.
The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in mechanical design, basic electronics, robotics, and system integration, along with the ability to understand engineering drawings and contribute to prototype development.
You will work closely with mechanical, electronics, and firmware teams on real-world product development and manufacturing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of electro-mechanical systems using CAD tools.
- Study and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, electrical schematics, and basic control logic.
- Support design improvements with a focus on Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and system integration.
- Assist in preparing basic project plans, timelines, and progress tracking under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Support procurement activities by identifying and documenting required components such as sensors, actuators, fasteners, mechanical components, and electrical parts.
- Participate in prototyping, assembly, system integration, and basic testing of products.
- Assist with inspection and quality checks of manufactured or procured components against specifications.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electronics, and firmware teams to ensure smooth system integration.
- Maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs,
test records, and project documentation.
- Support testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and iterative improvement of prototypes.
- Assist engineers in resolving design and manufacturing-related issues during product development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Mechatronics/Robotics, Robotics Engineering, or a related field.
- Candidates who have recently completed or are pursuing their final year of their degree are eligible.
- Basic understanding of mechanical design and electro-mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with sensors, actuators, motors, and basic electronic components.
- Basic understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T; concepts.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal fabrication, and 3D printing.
- Strong interest in robotics, automation, product development, and engineering design.
Technical Skills
- Basic proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
- Understanding of 3D modelling and assembly design.
- Exposure to rapid prototyping techniques such as FDM and SLA 3D printing.
- Basic knowledge of PLCs, microcontrollers, or control systems is an advantage.
- Familiarity with MS Excel and basic project tracking tools.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation.
Preferred Skills
- Academic or personal projects involving robotics,
automation, or electro-mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, mechanical assembly, sensors, motors, or actuators.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work in a hands-on engineering and manufacturing environment.
