Job Title: GIS Expert / Geospatial Specialist

Role Overview

Raah Foundation is seeking a GIS Expert to support planning and monitoring across Water, Agriculture, and Ecological Restoration programs. The role focuses on using satellite, drone, and field data to generate insights, maps, and decision-support tools for on-ground implementation.

Key Work Areas

- Watershed planning and monitoring
- Water, soil, and land resource analysis
- Ecological restoration and plantation tracking
- Food forest and agriculture monitoring
- Drone-based mapping and analysis
- Dashboard and decision-support system development and management

Role Responsibilities

- Perform spatial analysis and mapping for watershed, agriculture, and ecological restoration projects
- Work with multi-source geospatial datasets, including:
- Groundwater, surface water, and hydrological data
- Rainfall and climatic data
- Soil data
- Field and survey data
- Satellite data (Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2, Landsat)
- Drone data (orthomosaics, DEMs, DSMs, vegetation indices)
- Perform GIS-based suitability and planning analysis for:
- Water and soil conservation structures (CCT, trenches, bunds)
- Plantation and ecological restoration (food forests, afforestation, grasslands, fire lines, farm ponds and water harvesting systems)
- Analyze satellite imagery (Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2, Landsat, etc.) for:
- Spectral indices and change analysis
- LULC classification
- Seasonal and long-term monitoring
- Support the Water Program through GIS-based inputs for watershed planning, development,



monitoring, water resource assessment, planning, and tracking and evaluation of on-ground interventions
- Support vegetation and field monitoring using satellite and drone data
- Create maps, reports, and visual outputs for teams and stakeholders
- Maintain and manage GIS databases, layers, and project repositories
- Document workflows, methodologies, and outputs clearly
- Apply AI/ML techniques in geospatial workflows
- Field data integration with GIS systems

Experience & Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Remote Sensing or related field
- 2+ years of relevant experience in GIS/Remote Sensing

Required Skills (Must-Have)

- Strong proficiency in advanced GIS and Remote Sensing workflows
- Well-versed in ArcGIS, QGIS, and Google Earth Engine (GEE)

Preferred Skills (Plus Point)

- Experience in developing GIS dashboards, web GIS applications, Story Maps, and GIS decision-support systems
- Experience with drone/UAV data processing and analysis, using tools such as Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape, DJI Terra or Open-source tools like OpenDroneMap (ODM), WebODM, and CloudCompare
