1. Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of plastic injection moulds.
- Dismantle, inspect, clean, repair, and assemble moulds as per maintenance requirements.
- Identify and rectify mould-related problems during production.
- Troubleshoot issues such as flash, short moulding, mismatch, burrs, sticking, improper ejection, leakage, and cooling problems.
- Carry out mould fitting, grinding, polishing, lapping, drilling, tapping, and other tool-making activities.
- Repair and replace damaged or worn-out mould components.
- Maintain and repair core, cavity, inserts, slides, lifters, ejector pins, guide pillars, guide bushes, locks, and other mould components.
- Perform mould modifications and corrections as per production and engineering requirements.
- Check mould alignment, parting line, shut-off areas, and dimensional accuracy.
- Inspect and maintain cooling channels and water-line connections.
- Check hot runner systems, nozzles, heaters, and related components where applicable.
- Use measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Dial Gauge, and other precision instruments.
- Read and understand mould drawings and component drawings.
- Attend mould breakdowns and complete repair work within the required time to minimize production downtime.
- Conduct mould inspection after maintenance before releasing the mould for production.
- Support mould trials and rectify mould-related issues identified during trials.
- Maintain mould history, preventive maintenance records, breakdown records, and component replacement details.
- Ensure proper identification, handling, cleaning, and storage of moulds and mould components.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Tool Engineering, and Mould Maintenance teams for resolving mould-related issues.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and follow 5S practices in the mould maintenance area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and use appropriate PPE while carrying out maintenance activities.
2. Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of plastic injection mould construction and maintenance.
- Good understanding of mould components and their functions.
- Knowledge of preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot mould-related injection moulding defects.
- Good knowledge of tool fitting and assembly.
- Ability to perform grinding, polishing, lapping, drilling, tapping, and fitting operations.
- Knowledge of basic machining operations is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand mould and component drawings.
- Good knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of hot runner moulds will be an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of injection moulding machines and mould setting is preferred.
3. Qualification
- DTDM – Diploma in Tool & Die Making or equivalent qualification.
- Candidates with relevant practical experience in plastic injection mould maintenance will be preferred.
4. Experience
- Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in plastic injection mould maintenance.
- Experience in mould dismantling, fitting, assembly, repair, modification, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in maintaining multi-cavity and complex injection moulds will be an added advantage.
Pay: ₹28,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
