Position: Volleyball Coach

Reports To: Head of Sports / Head of PT

About the Role

Dalhousie Public School, New Chandigarh, is looking for a passionate, experienced and dedicated Volleyball Coach to develop and lead the school's volleyball programme. The ideal candidate should have strong technical and tactical knowledge of volleyball, experience working with young athletes, and the ability to develop students from beginner to competitive levels. Knowledge or experience in additional sports activities will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Coaching & Training

- Plan and conduct structured volleyball training sessions for students across different age groups and skill levels.
- Develop students' fundamental volleyball skills, including serving, passing, setting,attacking, blocking, receiving and defensive techniques.
- Develop students' physical fitness, agility, coordination, speed, stamina and overallathletic ability.
- Introduce appropriate tactical concepts, formations, rotations and game strategies.
- Conduct regular fitness and skill assessments and monitor individual student progress.
- Provide additional coaching and focused training to students with competitive potential.
- Adapt training methods according to students' age, ability and experience.

Team Development & Competitions

- Identify and develop talented volleyball players for school teams.
- Conduct trials and assist in team selection.
- Prepare school teams for inter-school, district, state and national-level competitions,wherever applicable.
- Develop match strategies, formations and game plans.




- Organise practice matches and competitive training sessions.
- Analyse team and individual performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Accompany and supervise students during tournaments, matches, camps and sporting trips as required.

Student Development

- Promote discipline, teamwork, leadership, resilience and sportsmanship.
- Encourage students to participate actively and develop a positive attitude towards competition.
- Create a safe, inclusive and motivating training workplace.
- Mentor students and encourage them to set and achieve sporting goals.
- Support students in balancing sporting commitments with their academic responsibilities.

Sports Facilities & Equipment

- Ensure proper and safe use of volleyball courts, nets, balls and other training equipment.
- Monitor the condition of equipment and report repair or replacement requirements. Maintain appropriate records of sports equipment used for training.
- Assist the Head of Sports/PT in planning equipment and infrastructure requirements.

School Activities

- Support the planning and conduct of Annual Sports Day, inter-house competitions and school sports events.
- Organise volleyball-specific activities, leagues, workshops and practice sessions.
- Encourage participation in external tournaments and sports programmes.
- Assist with other sports activities conducted by the school, wherever required.

- Good understanding of sports fitness, conditioning and injury prevention.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Knowledge or experience in additional sports activities will be an added advantage. Professional, disciplined and student-focused approach.

Qualifications & Experience

- Degree/Diploma in Physical Education, Sports, Volleyball Coaching or a related field will be preferred.
- Recognised volleyball coaching certification will be an advantage.
- 3–5 years of relevant volleyball coaching experience, preferably in a school, sports academy or educational institution.
- Experience in preparing school teams for competitive tournaments will be preferred.
- Candidates with a strong playing background and demonstrable coaching experience may also be considered.
