Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Head – Quality Assurance / Quality Head to lead the complete Quality function in a precision engineering and machining manufacturing workplace.

The role will be responsible for Quality Management System, AS9100D, ISO 9001, customer quality, supplier quality, audits, new product quality, FAI, PPAP/APQP, corrective actions, manufacturing quality and quality team development.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in precision machining, quality systems, customer audits and supplier quality, along with proven leadership experience.

Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Management System & Certification

- Lead and maintain the integrated AS9100D and ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Act as Management Representative for the quality management system.
- Own Quality Manual, procedures, quality policy and quality objectives.
- Plan and execute the internal audit programme.
- Ensure auditor competence and independence.
- Conduct and document Management Reviews.
- Lead certification, surveillance and recertification audits.
- Track and close audit findings within agreed timelines.
- Maintain risk-based thinking, product safety and configuration management requirements.

Customer Quality & Corrective Action

- Act as the principal quality contact for overseas customers.
- Handle customer quality correspondence, review calls and escalations.
- Lead customer quality audits and source inspections.
- Review, approve and submit 8D and corrective-action responses.
- Coordinate containment, deviation and concession requests with customers.
- Ensure customer-specific quality requirements are implemented and maintained.

New Product Quality & Product Approval

- Lead the quality workstream for New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Conduct feasibility review, quality planning and readiness sign-off.
- Own First Article Inspection (FAI) as per AS9102, including Delta FAI.
- Approve Control Plans, PFMEA and Inspection Standards before production release.
- Manage PPAP and APQP deliverables for automotive projects.
- Ensure critical characteristics are identified and controlled.




- Maintain drawing revision and configuration control.

Supplier Quality Management

- Lead supplier selection, approval and evaluation.
- Maintain the Approved Supplier List.
- Conduct supplier and subcontractor quality audits.
- Develop improvement plans for underperforming suppliers.
- Control outsourced special processes such as Heat Treatment, Plating and NDT.
- Ensure process specifications, approvals and periodic verification are maintained.
- Maintain controls for bought-out material and supplier quality documentation.

IATF 16949 Implementation

- Act as the internal owner and coordinator for the IATF 16949 implementation programme.
- Coordinate with external consultants and internal teams.
- Develop and track implementation milestones.
- Ensure IATF requirements integrate effectively with the existing quality system.
- Build internal capability in SPC, MSA, FMEA, PPAP and APQP.
- Report implementation progress and risks to management.

Manufacturing Quality

- Lead and guide the Line Quality function.
- Oversee in-process quality, incoming inspection and metrology.
- Manage calibration and measurement-system governance.
- Review process capability and drive improvement where required.
- Authorise disposition of non-conforming material.
- Maintain strong quality controls across manufacturing operations.

Team Leadership

- Lead and develop a Quality team of approximately 8–15 personnel.
- Build competency matrices, training plans and qualification systems.
- Develop quality team capability across in-process quality, incoming inspection, metrology and documentation.
- Track and reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) including scrap, rework, sorting and recovery costs.
- Build a strong quality culture focused on prevention and continuous improvement.

Candidate Requirements

- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10–14 years of experience in Quality within precision machining or engineering manufacturing.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading a Quality function.
- Strong experience with AS9100 quality management systems, preferably as Management Representative or Deputy.
- Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection.
- Proven experience handling customer and certification audits.
- Experience as a principal quality contact for overseas customers.
- Strong supplier quality experience including supplier approval, audits and development.
- Practical experience controlling outsourced special processes such as heat treatment, plating and NDT.
- Strong command of SPC, MSA, FMEA, Control Plans and structured Root Cause Analysis.
- Good understanding of CNC turning, CNC milling, engineering drawings, GD&T; and CMM output.
- Strong spoken and written English for customer communication and audits.

Preferred / Added Advantage

- Experience with IATF 16949 implementation or automotive quality systems.
- AS9100 / ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification.
- Knowledge of NADCAP requirements.
- Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt.
- Knowledge of counterfeit part prevention and configuration management.
- Experience with European or North American customers.
- Experience with ERP-based Quality Management systems.

Working Conditions

- Plant-based role with regular shop-floor presence.
- Domestic travel to customer and supplier locations for audits, development visits and issue resolution.
- PPE is required in production and inspection areas.
- Occasional extended hours may be required during audits, customer issues, containment activities or critical dispatch commitments.

Pay: ₹1,000,000.00 - ₹1,200,000.00 per year
