Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Coder specializing in Interventional Radiology (IVR) and Same-Day Surgery (SDS) to join our energetic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately translating physician documentation into appropriate medical codes for billing and data collection purposes. This role requires a deep understanding of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding systems, as well as specific expertise in complex interventional radiology procedures and outpatient surgical services.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

- Review and analyze medical records, operative reports, and diagnostic reports to identify all services and procedures performed in Interventional Radiology and Same-Day Surgery settings.
- Assign appropriate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes based on official coding guidelines (AHA, AMA, CMS), payer policies, and organizational standards.
- Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA.




- Abstract relevant information from patient records to support code assignments and ensure proper sequencing of diagnoses and procedures.
- Query physicians and other healthcare providers for clarification and additional documentation when necessary to ensure accurate and complete coding.
- Stay current with changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices, particularly those impacting IVR and SDS coding.
- Participate in coding audits and reviews to maintain high-quality coding standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with billing and revenue cycle teams to resolve coding discrepancies and denials.
- Maintain productivity and accuracy standards as set by the department.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and coding software efficiently for documentation and code assignment.
