iTeach Schools

Pune

Why do we exist? What do we do?

The quality of school education available to students from low-income communities across India is abysmal. Their chances of attending college or building a career are significantly lower than their high-income peers, condemning them to a life without voice or choice. iTeach was born in 2015 to challenge this status quo and create a level playing field for ALL children.

We run free and high-impact schools and an exceptional college-to-career program for the most disadvantaged students in Pune and Navi Mumbai. We are known for our world-class professional development, our result-oriented team culture, and our student-centric school design. Read more about us at http://iteachschools.org

Responsibilities

iTeach is scaling — from a 500-person organisation today to 1,000+ over the next five years. That's not just a headcount number. It means new schools, new cities, new layers of leadership, and thousands more students getting a real shot at a different life. It also means the systems, culture, and people practices that got us here need to be rebuilt for where we're going.

This is where you come in.

iTeach's founding belief is "first who, then what" — we bet everything on our people. Get their experience right, every day, every year, and everything else follows. The HR Lead sits at the centre of that bet: you'll be the person leadership turns to for a real-time pulse on the health of the organisation, the architect of the systems that let us scale without losing what makes iTeach iTeach, and a builder of people-management muscle across every team.

You'll work as part of the Network Team's People Ops function, partnering closely with People Ops leadership on three fronts: designing a genuinely great staff experience, owning the policies, processes, and systems that keep the organisation running smoothly, and building people-management capacity across the org — from first-time managers to school leaders.

Be the pulse of the organisation

- Own how leadership sees organisational health — through regular staff check-ins, early-warning signals on brewing issues, and a sharp eye for helping leaders spot emerging talent as quick as emerging problems.
- Track and report on the metrics that matter — attrition, engagement, and other leading indicators — so leadership always has a real, current read on how the org is actually doing
- Turn what you see into action, not just dashboards.

Build the systems for 500 1,000

- Revamp the HR systems, tools, and processes that need to hold up at double our current size — leave tracking, punctuality, payroll, and beyond — designed for great user experience, easy review, and powerful analytics.
- Study trends across teams and locations and get ahead of the policy and system shifts we'll need before we need them.

- Design, refine, and future-proof our HR, Promotion, and related policies so they stay sharp, relevant, and fully compliant as we grow.
- Partner with managers across the org to work through underperformance, code-of-conduct issues, extended leaves, and similar situations with clarity and care.

Champion engagement and well-being

- Design and run programs that make iTeach a genuinely great place to work.
- Own staff engagement measurement using structured frameworks.
- Review and benchmark staff benefits so we stay competitive as we scale.

Lead the team

- Lead and grow a team of 5-6 HR Associates, setting the direction, standards, and support they need to deliver on everything below.
- Build long-term plans for the team — a clear vision, concrete goals, and a growth path for each Associate — so the team scales in capability, not just headcount.

Prerequisites

- Required: 5+ years of work experience overall, with 2 + years leading a team
- Required: Experience in People/ HR verticals
- Preferred: Experience in a school system/education organisation

Compensation and Benefits: We take pride in offering competitive compensation and benefits commensurate with the candidate's education and work experience. The salary range for this position ranges from 9.0 - 10.5 LPA CTC, and we are dedicated to providing top-notch industry benefits. These benefits include PF, gratuity, medical insurance (up to 3 lakh PA), paid leaves, annual increments, and promotion opportunities.
