Role Purpose
Implements safety policies and regulations in an construction site, and makes sure they are followed.
Create a safe environment for construction workers
Accountabilities
- Stop the work if behaviour of employee or work area conditions are unsafe.
- Authorize Safe Work Permits for all work conducted at site. No work on site is to be done without a SWP.
- He shall document all incidents / accidents.
- It is the responsibility of the Safety Engineer to inform about any unsafe acts / conditions to the Safety Manager and Project Manager at site.
- To minimize the risk of injuries to all employees, contractors, visitors or any one of the project sites.
- To ensure that the employees under their control are fully aware of relevant safety issues on site.
- To emphasize that safe working procedures are developed to reduce risks to individuals.
- To educate other individuals that takes short cuts or bypassing of such procedures is not an acceptable practice under any circumstances:
- Responsible for monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe situations and developing measures to assure personnel safety. Will correct unsafe acts or conditions through the regular line of authority, although the Safety Manager may exercise emergency authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts when immediate action is required.
- The Safety Engineer ensures the Safety Manual is implemented at site.
- The Execution Engineer ensures there are safety messages in each Incident Action Plan.
- Execution Engineer should check Safety standards maintained, all compliance are in place. Safety Engineer to proposed changes if needed and provide support.
- Coordinating Labour welfare facilities.
- Make sure the compliance of waste disposal as per BOCW act.
- Evaluating captured safety observations for immediate mitigation.
- Reviewing Job Specific Risk Assessments.
- Conduct Safety Walk along with line management.
- Coordinating OHC First Aid Centre.
Knowledge / skills required
- Should have a practical/ field experience of supervising safety activities and possesses competency to take appropriate decisions consulting the concerned.
- Shall take ownership in driving the requirements of HSE at site.
- Creating safety awareness growth to all contract staff and site staff.
Educational Qualification
Diploma or Graduate Engineering Degree in Civil / Mechanical / Chemical / Electrical / Instrumentation (B.E / B. Tech) from a reputed institute.
Degree or Diploma in Industrial Safety with at least one paper in construction safety
Experience required
10-15 years
