Senior Property Facultative Underwriter – ReinsuranceLocation:GIFT City, GandhinagarExperience:10–15+ yearsFunction:Property Facultative Reinsurance UnderwritingAbout the RoleA leading global reinsurance organisation is looking to build a senior underwriting capability in India and is seeking an experiencedProperty Facultative Reinsurance Underwriterto lead the assessment, underwriting and management of complex Property Facultative risks originating from India and other approved territories.The role will work closely with the international underwriting team and will play a key role in establishing and growing the Property Facultative portfolio in GIFT City, while maintaining strong underwriting discipline, technical standards and portfolio profitability.Key ResponsibilitiesUnderwrite complexProperty Facultative Reinsurancerisks in line with underwriting appetite, guidelines and authority limits.Evaluate large and technically complex industrial and commercial property risks, including risk quality, occupancy, construction, protection systems and loss history.Analyse underwriting submissions, engineering/risk inspection reports, claims experience, financial information, exposure data and policy wordings.AssessNatural Catastrophe (CAT) exposures, accumulations and portfolio concentration .Undertake technical risk assessment, pricing and structuring of facultative reinsurance solutions.Develop underwriting recommendations coveringpricing, capacity, deductibles, limits, terms and conditions .Negotiate with brokers, cedants and reinsurance intermediaries on pricing, coverage and terms.Build and maintain strong relationships with Indian and international brokers,



cedants and market participants.Identify quality business opportunities and contribute to the development of the Property Facultative portfolio.Monitor portfolio performance, profitability, exposure and accumulation against defined risk appetite.Provide technical input on complex policy wordings and coverage structures.Work closely with underwriting, actuarial, claims, finance and operations teams.Contribute to underwriting strategy, portfolio planning and market development for the India platform.Maintain high standards of governance, documentation, compliance and underwriting controls.Progressively take on greaterunderwriting authoritybased on demonstrated technical capability and performance.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level underwriting professionals.Ideal Candidate Profile10–15+ years of experiencein Property Underwriting / Property Reinsurance, with strong exposure toFacultative Reinsurance .Experience withglobal reinsurers, international insurers, Lloyd’s markets or leading reinsurance organisationspreferred.Strong technical knowledge ofProperty Facultative underwriting and risk assessment .Experience handlinglarge corporate, industrial and complex property risks .Strong understanding ofCAT exposures, accumulation management and exposure modelling .Proven experience inrisk pricing, underwriting decisions and portfolio management .Strong knowledge of property policy wordings, coverage structures and reinsurance terms.Demonstrated experience negotiating withbrokers, cedants and reinsurance brokers .Established market network and strong broker relationships would be an advantage.Ability to operate independently and take ownership of underwriting decisions.Strong commercial understanding with a explicit focus onprofitable portfolio growth .Engineering / Commerce / Finance / Insurance degree preferred.Professional qualifications such asFIII, ACII, CPCU or equivalentwould be an advantage.
