Wadhwani AI is looking for a Literacy Specialist to support the design, implementation, and scale-up of foundational literacy interventions across government school systems. The role will provide academic and technical expertise in literacy pedagogy, curriculum development, teacher professional development, assessment design, and program implementation, while working closely with state governments and internal product, AI, and technology teams.

The Literacy Specialist will contribute to the development of evidence-based literacy solutions aligned with NEP 2020 and NIPUN Bharat, and support the integration of AI-enabled innovations to improve reading fluency, comprehension, writing, and foundational language skills at scale.

Program Design & Academic Support

- Support the design and strengthening of foundational literacy frameworks aligned with NEP 2020 and NIPUN Bharat.

- Develop and review teaching-learning materials, lesson plans, teacher guides, student workbooks, and digital learning resources.

- Contribute to competency-based learning progressions covering oral language, phonics, fluency, comprehension, writing, and foundational literacy skills.

- Review state curriculum and instructional materials and recommend improvements where required.

- Support the development of AI-enabled literacy products and classroom interventions.

Teacher Capacity Building

- Design and support teacher training programmes, Training of Trainers (ToT), and professional development modules.

- Develop coaching and mentoring resources for teachers, academic mentors, and school leaders.

- Facilitate teacher training, workshops, and academic capacity-building sessions.

Government & Stakeholder Engagement

- Work closely with State Education Departments, SCERTs, DIETs, Samagra Shiksha,



and district officials to support implementation.

- Provide technical inputs during government consultations, curriculum reviews, and implementation planning.

- Support integration of Wadhwani AI's literacy solutions into government education systems.

Assessment, Monitoring & Learning

- Support the design and validation of literacy assessments and classroom observation tools.

- Analyze student learning and assessment data to identify trends and inform program improvements.

- Contribute to monitoring frameworks, dashboards, and implementation quality standards.

Program Implementation

- Provide academic support during pilot implementation and state deployments.

- Conduct field visits to schools and provide implementation guidance to state teams.

- Identify implementation challenges and recommend course corrections.

Product & Content Development

- Collaborate with Product, AI, and Engineering teams to develop technology-enabled literacy solutions.

- Review and validate digital learning content for pedagogical quality and learner engagement.

- Support the development of adaptive and AI-assisted literacy interventions.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

- Document implementation learnings, case studies, and best practices.

- Contribute to reports, presentations, technical documentation, and donor updates.





- Support development of knowledge resources for internal and external stakeholders.

RequirementsEducation

- Master's degree in Education, Literacy Education, Language Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Linguistics, English, Hindi, or a related field.

- Bachelor's degree in Education, Language, Linguistics, English, Hindi, or a related discipline.

Experience

- 3–5 years of experience in foundational literacy, language education, curriculum development, teacher career development, or education program implementation.

- Experience working with government education systems, including State Education Departments, SCERTs, DIETs, or large-scale education programs.

- Experience designing literacy curricula, teaching-learning materials, teacher training programs, and assessment frameworks.

Technical & Domain Expertise

- Strong understanding of NEP 2020, NIPUN Bharat, FLN, and competency-based education.

- Sound knowledge of evidence-based reading instruction, multilingual education, language development, and literacy pedagogy.

- Familiarity with literacy assessments, monitoring and evaluation, and remediation approaches.

- Understanding of EdTech, AI-enabled learning solutions, or digital education products is desirable.
