Please do not contact the recruiter directly.Industrial Trainee - Asia Controllership (ICAI)About the TeamThe Asia Controllership team is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, governance, regulatory compliance, and accurate financial reporting across multiple Asia entities. The team partners with finance, business stakeholders, auditors, tax advisors, and shared services to support a strong control environment and high-quality financial reporting.Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated CA Industrial Trainee (ICAI) to join our Asia Controllership team. This role offers hands-on exposure to controllership, financial reporting, statutory audits, regulatory compliance, treasury operations, and finance transformation initiatives across multiple Asia-Pacific jurisdictions.The trainee will gain practical experience in a multinational finance environment while working closely with experienced finance professionals on real business challenges.Key Responsibilities1. Financial Reporting & Month-End CloseAssist in month-end and quarter-end close activities.Support preparation and review of account reconciliations.Analyze balance sheet and P&L; movements and investigate variances.Assist in maintaining supporting documentation for financial reporting.Support intercompany reconciliations and transaction reviews.Participate in financial data validation and reporting activities.2.



Audit & Statutory ComplianceAssist in preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.Coordinate with internal and external auditors to respond to audit queries.Support statutory financial statement preparation and review processes.Help organize and maintain audit-ready documentation.3. Regulatory & Tax ComplianceSupport compliance activities related to direct and indirect taxes.Assist with reconciliations for TDS, GST, and other statutory requirements.Support regulatory filing requirements for various Asia entities.Participate in documentation and compliance tracking activities.4. Treasury & Banking OperationsAssist with banking administration and treasury-related activities.Support cash management reporting and reconciliations.Participate in monitoring banking documentation and controls.5. Internal Controls & Process DocumentationAssist in testing and documenting finance controls.Support maintenance of SOPs, process maps, and control documentation.Identify opportunities for strengthening processes and controls.Participate in balance sheet review and control monitoring activities.6. Fixed Assets & Accounting SupportAssist in maintaining fixed asset records and reconciliations.Support asset verification exercises and documentation.Help track additions, disposals, and depreciation-related information.7. Finance Transformation & AutomationParticipate in automation and process improvement initiatives.Support reporting enhancements using Excel, Smart View, Oracle, BlackLine,



or similar systems.Assist in testing and implementation of new processes and system improvements.Explore AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency in finance operations.Learning OpportunitiesThe Industrial Trainee will gain exposure to:US GAAP and local statutory reporting requirementsMulti-country accounting and controllershipMonth-end and year-end close processesInternal controls and governance frameworksStatutory and tax auditsTreasury and banking operationsERP systems (Oracle/FCCS/BlackLine or equivalent)Finance automation and AI-driven process improvementsEligibility CriteriaChartered Accountancy student registered with ICAI and eligible for Industrial Training as per ICAI guidelines.Strong academic record and understanding of accounting principles.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities.Preferred SkillsKnowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting.Exposure to ERP systems is an advantage.Interest in process improvement, automation, and data analytics.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Morningstar is an equal opportunity employer.Morningstar's hybrid work environment gives you the chance to collaborate in-person each week as we've found that we're at our best when we're purposely together on a regular basis.
