York Law School (YLS) is an innovative and collegial department committed to high-quality legal education, student development and community engagement. Our programmes are built around Problem-Based Learning (PBL), and we place strong emphasis on student-directed learning, legal skills, independent research skills and the development of professional competencies.
Role
You will support the work of the Baroness Hale Legal Clinic, a distinctive feature of the School’s civic engagement and skills-focused curriculum.
The Clinic provides free legal advice to the public and offers students meaningful opportunities to apply legal knowledge in practice, develop professional skills, and engage in supervised casework.
You will supervise students undertaking Clinic casework as part of a credit-bearing module. Working with small groups of students,you will support students through client interviews, legal research, case analysis and the preparation of written advice. The role involves facilitating student learning through supervision and feedback, helping students to develop independent professional judgement whilst maintaining appropriate professional standards and ensuring a high-quality service for clients.
