The Civil Engineer Procurement & Project Costing will be responsible for managing and supporting civil projects from the initial planning and estimation stage through procurement, execution, monitoring, billing, and final project closure. The role will ensure effective cost control, timely progress monitoring, selection of competent vendors, verification of bills, and compliance with applicable laws, statutory requirements, company policies, and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate project requirements, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and technical documents to prepare accurate cost estimates and project budgets.
- Analyse project costs, including material, labour, equipment, contractor charges, and other related expenses, and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Be involved in the project from the initial stage, including technical evaluation, preparation of specifications, BOQs, tendering, vendor identification, quotation analysis, and finalization of vendors/contractors.
- Conduct techno-commercial evaluation of quotations and support negotiations to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and timely delivery.
- Monitor and analyse project progress against approved schedules, budgets, milestones,
and scope of work, and highlight deviations for corrective action.
- Coordinate with project teams, consultants, contractors, vendors, finance, and other stakeholders for smooth execution of projects.
- Verify measurements, quantities, work completion certificates, supporting documents, and contractual terms while checking running bills and final bills submitted by contractors and vendors.
- Ensure that final bills and settlements are processed only after proper technical and financial verification and completion of contractual obligations.
- Maintain proper documentation of estimates, tenders, purchase orders, contracts, variations, approvals, bills, and project records.
- Ensure implementation of applicable laws, statutory provisions, safety requirements, quality standards, company policies, and contractual conditions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare periodic MIS, project cost reports, progress reports, and other management information as required.
Experience in working on SAP/ERP systems for procurement, cost control, project tracking, and bill processing will be an added advantage.
