About the Role

We re looking for a Strategic Finance Analyst to join our growing RD Finance team, supporting the finance function embedded within our global Engineering and Product organization. This role will partner closely with RD leaders to drive budgeting, headcount planning, and opex management for one of Fivetrans largest cost centers.

This is an exciting chance to gain deep exposure to financial planning within a high-growth, global SaaS environment. Youll work closely with team members in FPA, Accounting, and RD leadership to support core deliverables that inform how Fivetran invests in its engineering and product roadmap.

This is a full-time hybrid position in Bangalore, India. Youll collaborate with global colleagues across multiple time zones and functions, including our Corporate FPA and RD leadership teams based in the US.

Your analysis will feed directly into RD leadership reviews and executive/board-level reporting, giving you early, hands-on visibility into how a high-growth SaaS company plans and defends its largest cost center. This role also offers a clear growth path to Senior Finance Analyst / RD Finance Manager as you build scope and track record.

What You ll Do

- Partner with RD (Engineering, Product, Design) leaders and Corporate FPA to help build and maintain the company s RD budget, headcount plan, and opex forecast.
- Track actuals against budget for RD cost centers,



investigating variances and preparing monthly variance commentary for RD leadership.
- Support headcount planning and tracking for the RD organization, including hiring pipeline, backfills, and contractor/vendor spend.
- Maintain and refresh recurring RD Finance deliverables, including monthly business reviews, dashboards, and spend summaries, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
- Support capitalized software development cost tracking and RD tax credit documentation in partnership with Accounting.
- Perform scheduled imports, model updates, and data entry in Fivetrans FPA platform, Pigment, for RD-specific planning models.
- Partner cross-functionally with stakeholders in RD, Corporate FPA, and Accounting to ensure consistent and reliable reporting across business units.
- Identify and implement automation or process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce manual work in RD reporting and budget tracking.
- Apply AI and automation tools (GenAI assistants, Pigments Analyst Agent, lightweight scripting) to reduce manual effort in RD reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

Skills We re Looking For

- 2+ years of experience in FPA, ideally supporting an engineering, product, and/ or IT organization in a high-growth SaaS or tech environment.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, especially Google Sheets and Slides. (Advanced spreadsheet skills like pivot tables, formulas, and charts are essential.)
- Familiarity with financial planning tools; experience with Pigment or Anaplan is a strong plus.
- Comfort working with headcount, opex, and vendor spend data across large, complex cost centers.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to manage deliverables across time zones and with technical, non-finance stakeholders (e.g., engineering leaders).
- Comfortable working with structured datasets and recurring reporting cycles.
- A growth mindset, proactive attitude, and desire to learn new systems and processes.
- Comfort experimenting with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) to accelerate financial analysis and reporting, with a bias toward building and improving AI-assisted workflows rather than using AI only ad hoc.
- You can point to a specific AI-assisted workflow youve built (not just a tool youve tried) and describe how it changed the speed or quality of your output.

Optional Bonus Skills

- Basic familiarity with BigQuery, SQL, Looker, or other data visualization tools.
- Experience working with finance systems such as NetSuite, Workday, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to capitalized software development cost accounting or RD tax credit processes.




- Prior experience partnering directly with engineering or product organizations.
- Experience with prompt engineering or scripting (Python/SQL) to build lightweight automations that reduce manual reporting work.
- Exposure to AI-native FPA tools or agents (e.g., Pigments Analyst Agent, Anaplan PlanIQ) or to tracking AI/cloud infrastructure spend.
