About the Role.

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our automotive software engineering team. This role focuses on developing high-quality, reusable, and optimized embedded firmware for automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs), with responsibilities spanning MCU bring-up, AUTOSAR integration, bootloader development, secure boot implementation, multicore architectures, and safety-critical software development.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in embedded C/C++ development for automotive or other safety-critical systems and a robust understanding of AUTOSAR Classic, functional safety, and cybersecurity-driven software development practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and optimize embedded C/C++ firmware for automotive-grade microcontrollers.
- Develop reusable, portable, and MISRA-C compliant software across multiple ECU platforms and variants.
- Configure, integrate, and maintain AUTOSAR Classic Basic Software (BSW) components, including:
- MCAL
- Diagnostics
- Communication Stack (CAN, CAN-FD, Ethernet)
- NVRAM Services

- Implement and maintain bootloader and secure boot solutions, including secure flashing and HSM-based key management.
- Develop software solutions for multicore MCU architectures, including task partitioning, inter-core communication, and timing optimization.
- Perform firmware debugging, hardware bring-up, and root cause analysis using tools such as Lauterbach TRACE32, CANoe, and CANalyzer.
- Support Functional Safety (ISO 26262 ASIL-B/C) and Cybersecurity (ISO 21434) implementation activities, including evidence generation and documentation.
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, defect resolution,

and software quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage software baselines and releases using Git-based configuration management practices.
- Evaluate and explore the applicability of Rust for selected embedded software modules and future platform developments.

A Typical Day

The day typically begins with a stand-up meeting with the Firmware Lead to review priorities, build status, defect triage, and development progress. Engineers spend significant time developing embedded C/C++ firmware, configuring AUTOSAR MCAL and BSW modules, and implementing communication stack functionality using CAN, CAN-FD, and Automotive Ethernet.

The role also involves hands-on hardware bench activities, including ECU bring-up, firmware flashing, debugging, and validation using Lauterbach TRACE32, CANoe, and CANalyzer. Depending on project requirements, engineers work on bootloader development, secure boot implementation, HSM-based security features, multicore software partitioning, and timing analysis.

A typical day includes performing code reviews to ensure MISRA-C compliance, executing unit and integration tests, collaborating with systems and hardware teams to resolve defects, and managing source code through Git. Engineers also contribute to functional safety and cybersecurity documentation required for ISO 26262 and ISO 21434 compliance.

Regular activities include hardware-software integration reviews, platform standardization discussions, software reuse initiatives, and occasional exploration of emerging technologies such as Rust.

- Embedded compilers and toolchains
- Debugging techniques and tools

- Hands-on experience with AUTOSAR Classic, including:

- MCAL
- BSW Modules
- Diagnostics
- Communication Stack

- Experience in bootloader development, firmware flashing, and software update mechanisms.
- Proficiency in Git and software configuration/change management practices.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Experience working within structured engineering and development processes.

Good-to-Have Skills

- Exposure to Rust for embedded or automotive software development.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Secure Boot
- Hardware Security Modules (HSM)
- SecOC
