Job Description Senior Manager – Strategic Raw Material Procurement
Location: Hyderabad
Reporting To: Head – Supply Chain & Procurement
Lead strategic procurement of specialty raw materials for all manufacturing locations. Manage a portfolio comprising approximately 50–60% direct imports, 20–30% indirect imports through distributors, and the balance from domestic suppliers. The role excludes bulk commodities such as cement and aggregates, which are managed separately.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop sourcing strategies for specialty chemicals and performance raw materials.
- Lead global sourcing and supplier development across Asia, Europe and other key markets.
- Manage direct imports, indirect imports and domestic sourcing for assigned categories.
- Drive cost optimization through should-cost analysis, negotiations and value engineering.
- Ensure continuity of supply through risk mitigation, dual sourcing and inventory strategies.
- Partner with R&D;, Quality and Manufacturing on current product development and raw material qualification.
- Negotiate annual contracts, monitor supplier performance and manage claims.
- Track commodity trends, exchange rates and geopolitical risks affecting supply.
- Drive localization, working capital improvement and sustainability initiatives.
- Leverage SAP/ERP and analytics for procurement excellence.
Qualifications
B.E./B.Tech (Chemical preferred) with MBA preferred.
Experience
- 12–18 years in strategic procurement of specialty chemicals/raw materials.
- Strong international sourcing experience.
- Knowledge of import logistics, Incoterms, customs and trade compliance.
- Experience in construction chemicals, specialty chemicals, paints, adhesives, polymers or related industries.
