About Thryve

Thryve is a Singapore-headquartered, technology-enabled carbon project developer on a mission to create a thriving Earth by conserving and regenerating the planet's ecosystems. Founded in 2022 and venture-backed by leading regional investors, Thryve designs, finances, and implements large-scale, high-integrity nature-based solutions (NbS), principally afforestation, reforestation, and revegetation (ARR) projects across Asia. Thryve brings together capital partners, landowners, field organizations, and local communities into a cohesive, stakeholder-centric system that generates measurable climate, biodiversity, and socio-economic outcomes. Every project is underpinned by rigorous scientific planning, proprietary digital monitoring, reporting, and verification (D-MRV) infrastructure, and a governance framework built for institutional-grade accountability. Thryve does not view carbon credits as an end in themselves; they are the legible expression of real ecological restoration, delivered with integrity and permanence.

Role Summary

The Finance Business Partner is a critical member of Thryve's finance function, responsible for the full financial lifecycle of Thryve's carbon and nature-based solutions projects - from origination through to credit issuance and post-issuance reporting. The role sits at the intersection of project execution, financial control, and stakeholder reporting, translating operational field data and carbon market activity into accurate, governance-compliant financial records and management insights. The Finance Business Partner will support capital partners, the leadership team, and operational project managers with the financial rigor required to scale Thryve's project portfolio responsibly and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities

Project Budgeting and Financial Planning

- Prepare, maintain, and update detailed project budgets and multi-year financial forecasts for each active and pipeline carbon project, incorporating site development costs, monitoring expenditures, community engagement costs, and credit issuance timelines.
- Work closely with project managers and technical leads to develop accurate cost-to-completion models for projects at varying stages of the development lifecycle.
- Support scenario modelling for current project origination, including sensitivity analyses on carbon credit pricing, issuance timelines, and co-benefit revenues.

Project Cost Tracking and Accounting

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date cost records for all active projects, including field operations, nursery development, MRV activities, legal and regulatory costs, and third-party service provider fees.
- Allocate costs across projects in accordance with internal accounting policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Track and account for carbon credit revenue recognition in line with delivery schedules, offtake agreements, and relevant revenue recognition standards.

- Maintain records for deferred revenue, advance payments from capital partners, and milestone-based disbursements.

Carbon Credit and Environmental Asset Accounting

- Establish and maintain appropriate accounting treatment for carbon credits as inventory or intangible assets, in consultation with the Head of Finance and external auditors.
- Track credit issuance volumes, retirements, transfers, and inventory positions across projects and registries (e.g. Verra VCS, Gold Standard).
- Reconcile carbon credit registers against financial records and flag discrepancies for resolution.

Compliance, Governance, and Audit Readiness

- Ensure all project accounting activities comply with applicable Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS), internal governance policies, and any funder or investor reporting requirements.
- Maintain well-organized, audit-ready documentation for all project expenditures, revenue streams, and financial agreements.
- Support the preparation and coordination of statutory audits and any project-specific financial reviews required by capital partners or standard bodies.
- Monitor and flag any accounting or regulatory risks arising from evolving voluntary carbon market standards or Singapore tax and corporate reporting requirements.

Financial Reporting and Management Accounts

- Prepare monthly and quarterly project-level financial reports, including budget-to-actual variance analyses, cost-to-completion summaries, and revenue recognition schedules.
- Contribute to the preparation of consolidated management accounts and board-level financial reporting.
- Develop clear, accessible financial summaries and project performance dashboards for non-financial stakeholders, including project managers, community partnership leads, and capital partners.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Engage directly with field teams and project managers to ensure operational milestones are accurately reflected in financial records and forecasts.
- Support the finance team in building scalable accounting processes and systems as Thryve expands its project portfolio across new geographies.
- Assist with the financial due diligence process for new projects, including review of land agreements, implementation partner contracts, and benefit-sharing structures.

Required Qualifications and Experience

- Full professional accounting qualification (CA, or equivalent).
- Minimum five years of demonstrated experience in project accounting, with direct responsibility for project-level budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
- Practical experience in one or more of the following sectors is strongly preferred: environmental services, natural resources, carbon markets, impact-driven organizations, infrastructure, or development finance.
- Solid working knowledge of IFRS, with competence in revenue recognition,

asset accounting, and financial instruments.
- Demonstrated experience preparing management accounts, variance analyses, and financial reports for senior leadership or external stakeholders.
- Experience supporting or coordinating statutory audits and maintaining audit-ready financial records.

Preferred Skills and Competencies

- Advanced proficiency in financial modelling, including multi-year project cash flow models, scenario analysis, and sensitivity testing in Excel or equivalent tools.
- Familiarity with carbon credit accounting frameworks, voluntary carbon market mechanics, or environmental asset accounting, whether through direct experience or self-directed study.
- Proficiency with accounting software platforms (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Zoho) and comfort working with project management or ERP systems.
- Ability to synthesize complex project data - including operational, environmental, and contractual inputs - into clear financial outputs accessible to non-financial audiences.
- Strong command of data organization, version control, and documentation discipline in a multi-project environment.
- Intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated ability to develop accounting positions or policies in areas where established precedent is limited (e.g. carbon inventory, D-MRV cost capitalization).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional language skills relevant to Thryve's operating geographies (Bahasa Indonesia, Hindi, Tamil) are an advantage.

Culture and Values Fit

Thryve is an execution-oriented organization built on scientific rigor, collaborative spirit, and a shared conviction that nature-based solutions are critical infrastructure for civilizational resilience. The ideal candidate will bring the following personal qualities:

- Purpose alignment: A genuine and demonstrated commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action - not as a professional convenience, but as a personal conviction.
- Rigor without bureaucracy: The discipline to maintain high standards of financial accuracy and governance while operating efficiently in a fast-moving, growing organization.
- Collaborative mindset: Comfort working across disciplines - with scientists, field operators, technologists, and capital partners - and a willingness to build understanding across functional boundaries.
- Integrity under ambiguity: The confidence to raise concerns, flag risks, and develop sound accounting positions in novel situations, rather than defaulting to convention where it does not apply.
- Growth orientation: An appetite for continuous learning, particularly in the rapidly evolving voluntary carbon market and broader ecosystem finance landscape.

Location and Travel

The Finance Business Partner will be based at Thryve's Bengaluru office. The role involves periodic travel to project sites in India, Indonesia, and other jurisdictions where Thryve operates for field financial reviews, partner engagement, and on-the-ground project monitoring. Travel requirements are expected to be moderate (approximately two to four trips annually) and will increase in line with portfolio expansion.
