About the role

You will own the hardware design of a CAN-Ethernet gateway for commercial vehicles: schematic, PCB layout, BOM, mechanical coordination, prototype bring-up, validation, and production test bench setup for transfer to a manufacturer. This is a hands-on role from concept through manufacturing handover.

Experience: 4 to 7 years in electronic hardware design, with at least 2 years on automotive or industrial-grade products.

What you will do
- Design schematics for a dual-core R5F MCU platform with CAN-FD transceivers, Ethernet PHY, HSM, and power management.
- Lay out multilayer PCBs with signal integrity discipline for CAN-FD and 100Mbit Ethernet.
- Build and maintain the BOM with approved, RoHS-compliant vendors and alternates.
- Coordinate IP67 mechanical/enclosure design and commercial-vehicle mounting provisions.
- Bring up Proto-A and Proto-B boards: power sequencing, interface continuity, and debug.
- Run hardware validation: power, signal integrity (eye diagrams), thermal across -20 to +85 C, and EMI pre-scan.




- Design and commission a production test bench (functional fixture plus test sequence), then support manufacturing transfer, operator training, and first-article inspection.
- Drive RoHS compliance: BOM screening, supplier declarations, and declaration of conformity.
- Produce manufacturing documentation for production transfer.

Must have
- Robust analog and digital hardware design for embedded systems.
- Schematic capture and multilayer PCB layout (Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, or equivalent).
- CAN/CAN-FD transceiver design and bus-level signal integrity understanding.
- Power management design: rails, sequencing, reverse-polarity and load-dump protection for automotive.
- Hands-on bring-up and debug with oscilloscope, multimeter, and lab instruments.
- Familiarity with RoHS and automotive component qualification (AEC-Q100).
