Special Education Teacher – Job Description

Job Title: Special Education Teacher
Department: Academic / Special Education
Reports To: Principal / Academic Coordinator

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and qualified Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. The teacher will develop individualized learning strategies, provide academic and behavioral support, and work closely with parents, teachers, counselors, and school leadership to ensure every student receives appropriate educational support.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on students’ needs.
- Adapt teaching methods, lesson plans, and learning materials for individual learners.
- Assess students’ academic, social, emotional, and developmental progress.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group instruction when required.
- Support students with learning disabilities, developmental delays, and other special educational needs.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.




- Collaborate with mainstream teachers to promote inclusive classroom practices.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
- Encourage students’ confidence, independence, social skills, and participation.
- Maintain a protected, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, training programs, and school activities.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Relevant special education certification as required by applicable regulations.
- Good knowledge of inclusive education, differentiated instruction, and classroom management.
- Strong communication, patience, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs will be an advantage.
