​At Cafe 55, we pride ourselves on serving fresh, high-quality baked goods and exceptional coffee to our community. We are looking for a dedicated and energetic Bakery Assistant to join our kitchen team and help us deliver the delicious pastries, breads, and treats our customers love. ​

Role Overview ​As a Bakery Assistant, you will work closely with our lead bakers to support daily kitchen operations. This is a hands-on role where you will help prepare ingredients, manage baking schedules, and ensure our kitchen maintains the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety. Whether you are an aspiring baker or someone who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen workplace, this role is a great opportunity to grow your culinary skills.

​Key Responsibilities ​Preparation: Accurately scale, weigh, and measure ingredients according to Cafe 55’s standard recipes. ​

Production Support: Assist in mixing doughs, preparing batters, shaping pastries, and monitoring items while they bake. ​

Quality Control:



Ensure all baked goods meet our visual and taste standards before they reach the display case.

​Inventory Management: Monitor ingredient stock levels, receive deliveries, and properly rotate perishable items using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method. ​

Sanitation: Maintain a spotless workspace by washing dishes, sanitizing equipment, and sweeping/mopping the kitchen area throughout the shift. ​Equipment Operation: Safely operate commercial baking equipment, including mixers, ovens, and slicers.

​Requirements & Qualifications ​Experience: Previous experience in a bakery, kitchen, or food service environment is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate. ​

Early Riser: Must be available to work early morning shifts starting at e.g., 5:00 AM, as well as weekends and holidays. ​Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift heavy items (up to 22 kg) such as bags of flour or sugar.
