- Overall responsibility for Purchasing (Direct Material and Capex) and Cost Estimating activities across the business.
- Develops strategic plans for efficient procurement of material and process improvement and translates them into standard processes and systems to minimise lead time and cost.
- Commodity expert of Steel & Non-ferrous metal like Copper, Brass, Bronze, Zinc, Nickel.
- Expertise in CAPEX.
- Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities.
- Contribute to overall business strategy and annual budget process.
- Take ownership of the purchasing policy, guidelines and any associated documents.
- Initiate and develop, creative and innovative procurement processes (eProcurement).
- Manage commodity pricing and forecasting.
- Assists the SBU Heads in developing a strategy for long-term for Direct Material.
- Exposure to source various Raw material grades used in Steel and Auto industries.
- Evaluate supplier capacity and capability.
- Responsible for managing relationships and negotiating with key suppliers at a senior and strategic level.
- Negotiate contract terms with key suppliers to ensure value for money, quality standards and delivery terms with technical and operational input from stakeholders.
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.
- Analyse market scenario for different commodities.
- Awareness of various Raw material grades and standard used in Copper/Brass industry.
- Reviews the key performance metrics of the function on periodic basis and intervene as and when necessary.
- Monitors performance of the function against set goals and against the budget on a periodic basis
- Mentors and grooms high-potential employees, to ensure their growth opportunities and succession readiness for key positions in the department.
- Monitors the performance of employees within the department and take actions wherever necessary.
