Position: Category Manager / P&L; Manager

Location: Bangalore

Job Purpose
Our client is seeking an experienced and agile Category Manager to drive category growth, profitability, and business performance. The incumbent will be responsible for end-to-end category management, including P&L; ownership, strategic planning, vendor management, and business expansion, while also supporting business continuity and retention initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Own and manage the complete Profit & Loss (P&L;) for assigned product categories.
Develop and execute category strategies to drive revenue growth and profitability.
Analyze market trends, customer requirements, and competitor activities to identify growth prospects.
Manage vendor relationships, negotiations, pricing, and sourcing strategies.
Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to ensure effective execution of business plans.
Monitor category performance through regular reviews, MIS, and business analytics.




Drive retention strategies and establish backup/succession plans for critical business functions.
Ensure optimal inventory management and forecasting to support business objectives.
Present business reviews and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mandatory).
MBA from a reputed institution preferred.
Minimum 8 years of experience in Category Management, Product Management, or Business Management roles.
Proven experience in managing P&L; responsibilities for a product/category/business unit.
Robust commercial acumen and analytical skills.
Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience in B2B/Industrial/Electrical categories will be an added advantage.
