A VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC VMC machines to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.

VMC Operator – Work Description
Read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and job orders.
Set up the VMC machine by installing tools, fixtures, and workpieces.
Load and edit CNC programs as required.
Operate the VMC machine to produce components accurately.
Measure finished parts using precision instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
Inspect components to ensure they meet quality standards and dimensional tolerances.
Replace worn or damaged cutting tools and adjust machine settings when necessary.
Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Record production data, inspection results, and machine maintenance activities.




Coordinate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.

Required Skills
Knowledge of CNC/VMC machine operation.
Ability to read engineering drawings.
Familiarity with measuring instruments.
Basic understanding of G-code and M-code.
Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Typical Qualifications
ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
Experience and Freshers also operating CNC/VMC machines (preferred for experienced positions).
