Key Roles and Responsibilities1. Product Design & Development
Develop current product designs based on customer requirements and technical specifications.
Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
Create detailed engineering drawings, assemblies, and bill of materials (BOM).
Review and modify existing designs to improve performance, manufacturability, and cost.
Engineering Analysis
Perform design calculations, tolerance analysis.
Conduct simulations and engineering analyses where applicable
Manufacturing Support
Coordinate with production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable.
Resolve design-related issues during manufacturing.
Support process improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
Participate in design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) activities.
Documentation
Prepare and maintain:
Engineering drawings
BOMs
Design calculations
Technical specifications
Work instructions
Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
Quality & Compliance




Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards and customer specifications.
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for product failures.
Participate in quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with:
Production
Quality
Sales
Project Management
Customers and suppliers (when required)
Provide technical support during product development and production.
Cost Optimization
Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost reduction.
Recommend alternative materials or manufacturing methods without compromising quality.
Support supplier evaluation for recent components and materials.
Project Management
Plan and execute design activities according to project timelines.
Track project milestones and deliverables.
Support current product development (NPD) activities.
