Job Summary
The Safety Engineer (Machine Safety) is responsible for ensuring the protected design, installation, operation, maintenance, and compliance of manufacturing equipment and automated systems within the electronics manufacturing facility. The role focuses on machine safeguarding, risk assessments, automation safety, electrical safety, regulatory compliance, and implementation of engineering controls to eliminate workplace hazards and prevent injuries.
The incumbent will partner with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Automation, Facilities, and EHS teams to establish world-class machine safety standards and drive continuous improvement in operational safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Safety Management
Develop, implement, and sustain machine safety programs across all manufacturing operations.
Conduct machine safety assessments for SMT lines, PCB assembly equipment, testing stations, conveyors, robotic systems, automated assembly lines, and utility equipment.
Ensure compliance with machine safety standards, regulations, and company EHS requirements.
Establish machine safeguarding requirements for recent and existing equipment.
Risk Assessment & Hazard Analysis
Perform Machine Risk Assessments (MRA) and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessments (HIRA).
Identify hazards associated with:
Moving machinery
Robotics and automation systems
Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Electrical equipment
Material handling systems
Automated testing equipment
Recommend engineering controls and risk reduction measures.
Validate effectiveness of implemented controls.
Machine Guarding & Safety Systems
Review and approve machine guarding designs.
Ensure adequate protection through:
Fixed guards
Interlocked guards
Safety light curtains
Safety mats
Two-hand control systems
Emergency stop systems
Safety PLCs and relays
Conduct periodic inspections and validation of safety devices.
Monitor compliance with safeguarding stand
