Educational Qualification

- Chartered Accountant (CA) Mandatory
- CMA qualification will be an added advantage..

Experience

- 1825 years of post-qualification experience.
- Minimum 810 years in a leadership role within Steel, Metals, Mining, Power, Cement, or large manufacturing organizations.
- Mandatory experience in Integrated Steel Manufacturing Companies.
- Exposure to Steel Melting Shop (SMS), Blast Furnace, DRI, Pellet, Rolling Mills, Ferro Alloys, Stainless Steel, or Downstream Steel Operations preferred.
- Hands-on experience in SAP (FI/CO Module) is mandatory.

Position Overview

The GM / Sr. GM Unit Finance & Accounts Head will be responsible for providing financial leadership and control for one or more manufacturing units of a large integrated steel manufacturing company. The role will drive unit-level financial reporting, accounts finalization, budgeting, cost control, working capital management, statutory compliance, and MIS reporting while ensuring alignment with corporate financial objectives.

The incumbent will act as the key finance business partner for plant leadership and corporate management, ensuring timely and accurate financial information for decision-making and performance monitoring. Strong expertise in unit-wise accounts finalization, SAP environment, manufacturing finance, and internal controls is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Unit Accounts Finalization

- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts finalization for assigned manufacturing units.
- Ensure timely closure of books and compliance with Ind AS, Companies Act, and Group Accounting Policies.
- Review trial balances, ledgers, provisions, accruals, and financial statements.




- Ensure accuracy of balance sheet schedules and reconciliation of all key accounts.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors and corporate finance teams during audits and financial closures.

Unit Financial Control

- Monitor unit profitability, EBITDA, contribution margins, and cost structures.
- Drive financial discipline across plant operations and support performance improvement initiatives.
- Review manufacturing costs, yield variances, inventory valuation, and operational efficiencies.
- Establish strong internal financial controls and governance mechanisms.

Budgeting & MIS

- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term business planning exercises for manufacturing units.
- Analyze budget versus actual performance and provide actionable insights.
- Prepare management MIS reports, financial dashboards, and variance analyses.
- Support leadership with business performance reviews and strategic decision-making.

Costing & Manufacturing Finance

- Review product costing, standard costing, and cost allocation methodologies.
- Analyze raw material consumption, conversion costs, power costs, yield losses, and inventory movements.
- Partner with operations teams to identify cost reduction and productivity improvement opportunities.
- Monitor key manufacturing KPIs impacting financial performance.

Working Capital & Cash Flow Management

- Optimize working capital through effective management of inventory, receivables, and payables.
- Monitor cash flow forecasts and funding requirements.




- Drive initiatives for inventory reduction and cash conversion cycle improvement.
- Review credit controls and customer outstanding positions.

Statutory Compliance & Audit

- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation requirements, and corporate policies.
- Coordinate statutory audits, internal audits, cost audits, and tax audits.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Support regulatory reporting requirements.

SAP & Digital Finance

- Ensure effective utilization of SAP FI/CO modules across manufacturing units.
- Drive automation and process improvements within finance operations.
- Strengthen financial reporting systems and control frameworks.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams on SAP enhancements and process optimization.

Stakeholder Management

- Act as Finance Business Partner to Unit Heads, Plant Heads, Operations, Procurement, and Commercial teams.
- Present financial performance and key business insights to senior leadership.
- Coordinate with Corporate Finance, Treasury, Taxation, and Audit teams for seamless financial governance.

Desired Candidate Profile

- 17-26 years of experience in finance & accounting with a CA qualification in any specialization.

- Solid expertise in controlling, budgeting, funding, taxation, profitability analysis.

- Proven track record of managing large teams effectively.
