Your key responsibilities
Technical Excellence
- Seeking a motivated and analytically strong professional to join EY s CCaSS team in a blended role focused on sustainable finance and ESG for financial institutions. This role combines strategic, regulatory, and financial insights to help banks, asset managers, DFIs, and insurers design and implement credible, taxonomy-aligned sustainable finance strategies, and identify investment opportunities in the green economy. The candidate will work across a range of projects involving ESG integration, regulatory readiness, deal/market landscape analysis, and sustainable capital mobilisation strategies. Key Responsibilities: a) Sustainable Finance Advisory
- Develop sustainable finance frameworks aligned with global and local taxonomies (EU Taxonomy, SEBI, ICMA/ LMA Principles)
- Support/lead the design of use-of-proceeds structures, sustainability-linked KPIs, and performance-based funding instruments
- Contribute to impact assessment and monitoring frameworks (in line with IRIS+) for funds and instruments
- Assist clients with sustainable finance strategy formulation, including target setting, governance, and transition plans
- Support clients in launching new sustainable finance products (e.g. green/ sustainable bonds/ loans, blended finance vehicles, climate/ transition funds)
- Provide strategic support for capital raising aligned to ESG and sustainability mandates (particularly with DFIs and impact investors)
- Understanding of IFRS S1 and S2 b) Climate risk Advisory
- Developed in-depth understanding of the GHG Protocol (Scope 1, 2 3 emissions) applied it through the PCAF framework to calculate the climate impact of lending activities support ESG risk assessment.
- Understanding data sets and its application for classification systems including EXIOBASE, GICS, NAICS, ISIC, NACE (1.1 2)
- Experience in climate risk assessment including physical and transition risk and its impact on PD/ LGD
- Understanding of climate risk frameworks (TCFD) NGFS climate scenarios
- Development of climate integrated ECL models and automation, process improvement initiatives using Kepler IFRS 9 b) Market Studies Investment Landscape Mapping
- Conduct deep-dive sectoral assessments (e.g., clean energy, e-mobility, climate-smart agriculture, circular economy)
- Estimate market size (incl. TAM/SAM/SOM) and analyze investment potential in emerging green/ adaptation sectors
- Map capital flows, track deal activity (PE/VC/DFI), and identify emerging investable opportunities
- Provide actionable roadmaps and recommendations to help clients tap into investible opportunities through targeted financial, policy, or ecosystem-level interventions
- Support clients in developing investment theses and pitch notes tailored to different investor profiles c) ESG for Financial Services
- Support banks, asset managers, and insurers in developing and operationalizing ESG strategies
- Advise on ESG integration into investment/lending decisions, product design, and credit risk frameworks
- Assist in developing ESG governance structures and operating models for financial institutions
- Guide clients on regulatory disclosure requirements and frameworks (SEBI, RBI, ISSB, SFDR, etc.)
- Support financed emissions estimation, decarbonisation target setting (SBTi, NZBA), and net-zero alignment
- Support with ESG ratings questionnaires and help clients manage or improve ESG scores
- Climate risk assessments, climate modelling, integration in existing ECL / ICAAP models, calculation of financial impact of physical and transition climate risk across sectors, Climate Risk Mitigation Adaptation, Climate scenario analysis/ TCFD/ ISSB
- Experience in calculation of Financed Emissions baselining, forecasting, target setting, SBTi, PCAF, GHG Protocol
- Experience in developing decarbonization Net Zero strategy, alignment with SBTi Commitments, implementation of decarbonization strategy across sectors d) Business Development, Knowledge Management Thought Leadership
- Support proposal writing, pitch material preparation, and client outreach for sustainable finance and ESG projects
- Contribute to EY s knowledge base and maintain internal repositories of sector studies, KPIs, SF regulations, and ESG benchmarks
- Develop thought leadership articles, client alerts,
and event content on emerging SF/ESG topics
- Assist in delivery of capacity-building sessions for client CXOs, boards, or internal EY teams
- Support the design, planning, and execution of internal and external sustainability-focused knowledge platforms and events (e.g., roundtables, ideation workshops, virtual forums)
- Collaborate on content development, speaker coordination, logistics, and audience engagement for thematic platforms (e.g., ESG investing, gender and sustainability, sector deep-dives)
- Help maintain and grow EY s presence in ecosystem-wide conversations on sustainable finance and ESG through strategic outreach and positioning
- Keep abreast of ESG market development, authoring short reports and blogs on key market trends, and working to spot developments that might be relevant for our clients Core Skillsets Required
- Familiarity with IFRS S1/S2
- Python skillsets for development of models and understanding of requisite data sets and statistical models
- Familiarity with the relevant organisations and frameworks active in the sustainable finance space (Green Loan Principles, Sustainability-Linked Loan Principles, Climate Bonds Initiative, etc.)
- Strong foundation in finance concepts including understanding of various asset classes, IRR, ROI, payback period, capital structuring
- Engaged in green bonds issuance assurance / verification / evaluation / rating , has knowledge of green finance consulting; or
- Engaged in environmental social impact assessment
- Familiarity with Indian and global ESG/sustainable finance regulations (SEBI BRSR, RBI, ICMA, SFDR, TCFD, ISSB)
- Strong research, Excel, and PowerPoint skills; ability to synthesize data into clear recommendations
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
