Assistant Manager - EHS (Setting, Health & Safety)
Location: North Region (Project Sites)
Department: Project Management / EHS
Reporting To: Regional EHS Manager / Project Director
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Assistant Manager - EHS to lead and drive Environment, Health & Safety initiatives across project sites in the North Region. The role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, implementing best-in-class safety practices, promoting a zero-harm culture, and supporting project teams in achieving EHS excellence.
Key Responsibilities
EHS Planning & Compliance
- Review and approve HSE Plans, Safety Manuals, Emergency Response Plans, and Evacuation Procedures submitted by General Contractors (GCs).
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory regulations, including the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Act, 1996/1998 and other relevant safety legislation.
- Drive implementation and monitoring of Permit to Work (PTW) systems across project sites.
- Review and approve JSA (Job Safety Analysis), HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment), and SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements) submitted by contractors/vendors.
Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety induction programs for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Deliver task-based safety training and awareness programs for line managers, supervisors, and workers.
- Organize safety campaigns, orientation sessions, toolbox talks, and awareness initiatives to strengthen site safety culture.
Site Inspection & Audits
- Conduct routine site safety inspections and audits.
- Perform Hazard and Risk Assessment (HRA) audits and share findings with corrective and preventive measures.
- Monitor contractor compliance and issue Non-Compliance Notices (NCN) and penalties for major violations or delayed corrective actions.
- Conduct weekly safety walkthroughs and monthly compliance assessments.
Incident Management
- Record, investigate, and analyze Near Misses, First Aid Cases, and incidents.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Prepare and circulate incident investigation reports and lessons learned.
Stakeholder Management & Reporting
- Evaluate contractor EHS manpower and their competency against project requirements.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams on EHS matters.
- Lead weekly and monthly HSE meetings with key stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit EHS reports, dashboards, and compliance summaries to clients and management.
Safety Culture Development
- Drive behavioral safety initiatives and promote a proactive safety culture.
- Support achievement of organizational objective of Zero Harm.
- Encourage workforce engagement and participation in EHS programs.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- PDIS/ADIS from a recognized Government-affiliated Institution or University.
Preferred Certifications
- NEBOSH IGC
- IOSH Managing Safely
- OSHA 30 Hours Certification
Experience
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in EHS management within construction, real estate, infrastructure, engineering, industrial, or project environments.
- Experience managing multiple contractors and large-scale project sites.
- Strong understanding of Indian EHS regulations and management systems.
