Job Description Optometrist
Position: Optometrist
Department: Clinical / Eye Care Services
Location: Centre for Sight – Fazili Eye Care, Srinagar
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
We are looking for a qualified and patient-focused Optometrist to join our eye-care team in Srinagar. The candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive eye examinations, assessing visual function, performing diagnostic tests, prescribing appropriate optical corrections, and supporting ophthalmologists in delivering quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and visual acuity assessments.
- Perform refraction, subjective and objective assessments, and prescribe spectacles/contact lenses as appropriate.
- Perform and assist with diagnostic procedures such as tonometry, keratometry, A-scan/B-scan, OCT, fundus examination and other investigations as per clinical requirements.
- Conduct pre-operative and post-operative assessments for ophthalmic procedures.
- Identify ocular abnormalities and refer patients to ophthalmologists whenever required.
- Explain examination findings and treatment/optical recommendations clearly to patients.
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
- Ensure proper operation, maintenance and basic troubleshooting of optometric equipment.
- Support ophthalmologists and other clinical staff in day-to-day patient management.
- Provide appropriate counselling regarding eye health, contact lens care and spectacle use.
- Maintain high standards of patient safety, hygiene, ethics and confidentiality.
- Participate in camps, outreach activities and other clinical initiatives when required.
Educational Qualification
- B.Optom / Bachelor of Optometry from a recognized institution.
- Relevant registration/certification as applicable.
Experience
- Freshers may be considered.
- Prior experience in an eye hospital, ophthalmology clinic or optical/optometry setting will be an advantage.
Required Skills
- Strong clinical and refraction skills.
- Good knowledge of optometric instruments and diagnostic procedures.
- Good communication and patient-counselling skills.
- Ability to work effectively with ophthalmologists and multidisciplinary teams.
- Patient-centric attitude and professional conduct.
- Good documentation and computer skills.
