1. Requirement Gathering & Solution Design
- Conduct AS-IS process discovery across procurement, planning, production, stores, inventory, warehousing, quality and dispatch at plant and corporate level.
- Translate business processes into TO-BE designs on D365 F&O; author Functional Requirement Documents (FRD), Functional Design Documents (FDD) and fit-gap analyses.
- Drive design decisions on item master and product taxonomy, BOM and route structures, costing methods, warehouse and site hierarchies, and inventory dimensions.
- Evaluate gaps for standard configuration vs. workflow vs. customisation, and defend the standard-first position where a customisation is not justified.
2. Configuration & Delivery
- Configure and test core SCM modules: Procurement & Sourcing, Inventory Management, Warehouse Management (WMS), Production Control, Master Planning, Product Information Management, Cost Management, Sales & Distribution.
- Own integration touchpoints with Finance (GL/AP/AR, sub-ledger postings), Quality, Asset Management, and third-party systems (barcode/RFID scanners, weighbridge, MES, e-invoicing and e-way bill, vendor portals).
- Define and govern data migration for master and open transactional data vendors, items, BOMs, routes, warehouses, open POs, inventory balances, WIP including cleansing rules, templates, cut-over sequencing and reconciliation.
- Manage the implementation partner / SI on scope, sprint delivery, defect closure and quality of deliverables.
3. Testing, Cutover & Go-Live
- Build and execute the test strategy: unit testing (SIT), Conference Room Pilots (CRP1/CRP2),
User Acceptance Testing and regression testing across releases.
- Prepare the cutover plan and run the go-live dress rehearsals, cutover checklist, stock freeze and count, opening balance reconciliation, and Day-1 command centre.
- Lead hypercare: triage and resolve post-go-live issues, drive down defect backlog, and confirm transaction volumes and month-end close run cleanly on the new system.
4. Governance, Controls & Change Management
- Establish process controls and reconciliation checks across procurement, production, inventory and asset transactions; define segregation-of-duties and role-based security for SCM users.
- Maintain the program RAID log (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies) and report status, milestones and escalations to the steering committee.
- Own the change-request process — impact assessment, approval, effort estimation and release planning.
- Drive user adoption: training plans, plant-wise train-the-trainer, SOPs and job aids, and post-go-live adoption metrics.
5. Stakeholder Management
- Act as the single point of contact between plant operations, central procurement, finance, IT and the implementation partner.
- Run design authority forums to close cross-functional disagreements with a documented decision rather than an open loop.
- Support multi-plant / multi-entity template rollouts — protect the core template while accommodating genuine local statutory and process variations.
MUST HAVE:
- Implementation depth: 8–12 years total experience, with a minimum of 4–6 years on Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O; (or Dynamics AX 2012) Supply Chain Management. At least two end-to-end implementation cycles from discovery through hypercare.
- Manufacturing domain: Demonstrated experience in a discrete, process or engineered-to-order manufacturing setup — solid command of production planning, BOM/routing, sub-contracting and job work, shop-floor execution, inventory valuation and material costing.
- Module ownership: Hands-on configuration ability (not just requirement writing) across Procurement & Sourcing, Inventory & Warehouse Management, Production Control, Master Planning and Product Information Management.
- Process fluency: End-to-end command of Procure-to-Pay, Plan-to-Produce, Order-to-Cash and Record-to-Report as they interact with SCM.
- Data & analysis: Comfortable with data migration templates (DMF), Excel-based reconciliation at volume, and Power BI / SSRS reporting for SCM KPIs.
- Program discipline: Proven ability to run structured project governance — workplans, RAID logs, steering-committee reporting, partner and vendor management.
- Communication: Able to hold a credible conversation with a plant supervisor and a CXO on the same day, and write documentation that survives an audit.
